How can I complete the Squabbling Merchant quest?

After I talked to the brothers in the village in Kaupangr, there's not indication for what I should do to complete it. Any ideas?

Nope i also tried it but one person did managed to finish that quest.
I think its bugged.

The quest is bugged. You should be careful before starts trying everything. I made some tests and tried different things to complete the quest.

At the first time, I completed the quest Giesel ( the sheep) using the lupine necklace, but the lupine necklace should be used in the Squabbling Merchants, so I ended with two broken quests.

In another try, I've done what Audhild (the lady at Kaupangr) says (got the key from Ichthian boss), talked to her with the ichthian relic, but no way to get the Audhild's permit. The quest broke again.

On the third try, I got the Ichthian Relic, then got the Lupine necklace and completed it (at this time I already have talked with the brothers, clicked until no more dialogs were available). Having both Ichthian Relic and Lupine necklace I talked with Audhild, and finally she dropped the letter (Audhild's permit) to deliver to the brothers and complete the quest.

Deliver the relic and the necklace at the same time, was the only way I found to complete the quest.

Another tip, leave the Giesel quest to complete after you complete the Squabbling Merchants

@EPinter Thanks for the detailed reply. I forgot where I came across Ichthian Relic and Lupine necklace, guess I will have to went through all the main quests before proceeding to the bugged side quests.

Also any idea what should I do to complete the Magic Cauldron? I'm missing one last piese of Cauldron but I can't find it anywhere. Also I came cross some quest items like Blacksteel Ingot, Spell of Pieces and Mead of Valholl, where can these quest items be used? They have taken quite a lot of my inventory space here, just wanna get rid of them.

Also the Princess of Scandia asks me how to bring back her father, is it a quest or merely additional dialogue?

I went back into the game today. The Squabbling Merchant quest just disappeare from my quest log like, forever. I talked to the brothers in Kaupangr, they didn't reinitiate the quest for me. Well...

I found the last 4th Silver plate from the quest "The magic cauldron" in a map name "Zealands Coast" in a cave at top north from the merchant.

I figured it out. You have to make the Lupine Necklace and take it to the Chieftain, sometimes it doesn't work, if that's the case just drop the necklace from you inventory and pick it up again a couple of times. Then you get a permit which you take to your so desired merchant. Hope this will help.

The quest was originally bugged, it seems the recent update patched it up, I can complete the quest now, but the other quests I completed was reset and I can't do most of the quest again :(

Sort of a confusing quest line even when it does work right.
