Can't create a new character
So I recently re-installed this game after the new expansion came out. It's been several years since I last played, but I figured now was the best time to start again.

Long story short: I can't create a new character. Ever time I do - enter name, choose gender/tunic color, hit "create" - nothing happens.

I've tried:
1) Uninstalling OneNote (I read somewhere that this can cause an issue)
2) uninstalling/reinstalling the game
3) Running as Administrator
4) Turning off Steam Cloud connection
5) Turning off my Antivirus and Firewall (read somewhere that this can cause an issue)

Any more suggestions? I don't know what to do at this point.

P.S. I am running on Windows 10. I also cannot change any settings in the game - not sure if that's related.

If you can't change settings in the game too I am going to bet it can't write to the drive for some reason. Not sure the quickest way to fix that though. By any chance is your steam library on a different drive than your OS? I have seen this be an issue with other games and applications in the past.

my anti virus (bitdefender) blocked the creation of a character... after allowing the game it worked

It is not on a different drive, I do not believe. As far as I know, I only have 1 drive for this computer.

Afraid I already tried this. I even turned off Bitdefender when I launched it, just to see if it was still stopping it somehow.

try typing in a bigger name, i tried 3 letters at first didnt let me

So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it a third time and....it worked? I....don't know why that worked.

I also had Bitdefender installed,took it out complety and eveything seem to work after too.

My Titan Quest games are all doing that now. I can't save the game. Can't create a character. I played for 8 hours last Saturday, bought the Ragnaroc upgrade, had trouble installing it so I rebooted my computer and it installed. The only problem the game never saved (I hit save manually numerous times throughout). I found myself back 2 levels, lost my ragnarok sword (how do you spell ragnaroc?..) That's when I realized the game is not saving. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, copying the game save files to different places. reinstalling again, steam. I don't have a virus checker running, except windows defender. I have a vpn, but didn't help to turn that off. Not happy. :( Any ideas?

Make sure Steam cloud is turned off, maybe the sync is incomplete.

I am having the same issue, steam cloud is turned off. I have no clue what to do at this point.

The steam cloud setting has no effect on it, unfortunately. I've tried everything. I even emailed the vendor and they told me my video card was not up to snuff.... My Alienware laptop is 2 years old. The game was released in what? 2008? So, obviously it's my video card.... I think they were just putting me off. So, I deleted the game and steam and am done playing altogether. Too bad. Over 200 hours down the tube. :(

Did you try the tips from the stickied thread?

I did fix this, by the way. I rebuilt my windows box and all was well. Apparently, the My Documents directory is blocked. I had to actually let it into that directory. But, then I got caught in a spot where I would respawn after dying and they would kill be again immediately. I quit playing after that....
