Good Pairing for Rune?
I am thinking either Storm (to synergize with the general elemental Bonuses of Rune) or Defense (to just tank everything and be a walking fortress).

Any thoughts?

If they kept up with the way Titan Quest works, then all masteries work with it, fam.

I know that you CAN do every combo decently well, but I also know some combinations are better than others

Storm or Earth are basically the optimal second mastery for Rune, because of the elemental damage.

Rune seems to work well with pretty much anything though.

I'm currently using Earth and Rune. Its working out pretty good so far.

I've been thinking about Warfare (dual wield). Wearing caster gear and a couple fast swords, with as little strength investment as possible. Rune Weapon instead of Onslaught. Bit concerned about survivability, though, but Sacred Rage "should" make up for not having Ignore Pain. Not sure, though. I agree that Earth and Storm seem rather good matches for Runemaster.

So what is Rune generally best for as a char type?
Caster? Melee?

I know there's a lot of strength used in this mastery, just wondering because I was thinking of using it paired with Storm as a caster but then saw all the strength related stuff.

Seems to be quite universal, like Dream. Rune Weapon screams "battle mage" at me. :)

Yeah I was looking at some of the skills, because I'm trying to figure out what to use with Storm since I'm running into problems of never being able to kill Hades and my damage getting really low as time goes on (this is in normal difficulty btw)

Was originally thinking of Spirit or Nature and then remembered that I just bought the expansion and thought of the new mastery.

The trouble being of course that this is a brand new mastery, so not much is known about it, how it works best and what works best with it and stuff.

How would you run a Thunderer though? Full str, heavy armor etc, 1h+shield? I like it in theory, but I have my doubts.

I settled on Rune and Earth, since the Rune Attack skill Scales Elemental Damage, and you get a passive with Chance of Fire Damage, which is scaled by Earth again. Still unsure on whether I go 1H and Shield or Dual wield though

Dual-wield needs Warfare.

edit: Correction - Rune Master has a passive that provides dual wielding ability too.

So I can only profit from the chance of double Damage if I dual wield if I chose Warfare?

You cannot dual wield by default. Warfare has a passive skill that lets you dual wield weapons.

The game won't let you equip two weapons unless you have the Dual Wield skill from the Warfare mastery.

I know. I just thought the passive tha gives you a bonus for dual wielding in Rune would also give you the opportunity to do so. Bummer.
