Question about Batter -Shield Smash-Disable-Pulverize
Batter is an active skill that uses the shield. Shield smash is a passive that uses both weapon and shield when it procs. I take it then, that when I use batter that shield smash won't have a chance to proc because batter is not using the weapon? I am unclear about this.

Now batter has a recharge so while it is recharging I once again am using my sword. I have about 4 points in each of the shield passives; smash, disable, pulverize. I do not notice any special animation when they proc. So how do I even know if they are procing at all? Or maybe they don't proc when Batter is assigned to my LMB.

Also, is it a waste to use shield passives when your main attack is batter. It seems redundant. Especially Pulverize that hits 3 targets with your shield, which is the same thing that batter does.

In Epic its really hard to notice any difference with points in shield passives or without.

First of all, those shield skills proc only with default attacks, or with auto attack replacer like onslaught.

You will see animation when the shield skills are proccing, and it will also boost your dps by a LOT if you have maxed them all. Pulverize even has area attack which can hurt/kill multiple enemies at once so you can't really miss seeing it proc. May i ask what class are you playing if you're using batter as your main attack? Either way i would dump batter and focus on maxing those shield procs, and some other defense skills or whatever you have in your second mastery.

Ok, so batter won't work with the passive. Thanks for that info. I am dream/defense. With over 300% reflection. About 140 from aura/skills , the rest from gear. I also have the artifact that when procced adds 300% more reflection.

I guess I should switch my LBM attack to Psionic Touch. I have done dream build before and distort reality was one of my mains, but with reflection I actually want to be hit now and not petrify mobs.

I don't have much experience with reflect builds in tq, so can't really help you there.

@kekkuli You were a big help with explaining that the shield passives wouldn't proc with batter as LBM skill.

This is my 1st reflection build so learning on the fly. I took skills out of shield passives for now. Still have batter as LMB and maxed Phantom strike for RMB. My attack speed is only at 117% because my reflection gear doesn't add any speed. I tried Psionic touch briefly but with slow attack that doesn't charge any faster than the batter skill. Batter skill is pretty awesome with my shield, at least in Epic.

I shouldn't have any trouble now until Legendary. I can always tweek later, maybe give up some reflection for more attack speed. In Legendary will probably max shield procs and go Psionic. I don't have enough skill points to go around right now (level 46)

My 2cts:

One pick in each of the boxes in Shield Rush and Phantom Strike to unlock those, let +Skill gear bonuses do the rest. That way you get the mobility there and keep the Energy cost affordable. Absolutely keep the shield passives and skill Psionic Touch and its followups, and get your attack speed from the weapon (and Temporal Flux). It doesn't need to be a mace unless you absolutely need the Concussive Blow stuns. I still prefer the predictable and reliable stuns from Phantom Strike and Distort Reality over the intermittent, unpredictable ones from clubbing with Concussive Blow.

Also, if you want Relfection to to the noisy work, why would you wish to stun the opponent? During that stun time all your reflection will do as much damage as the enemy does to you - that is zilch. Sounds wasteful to me, doesn't it?

Now use a fast weapon - e.g. Sabertooth, a Veteran's dagger or short sword, Legweaver's Deathtip. Let the shield passives do the DPS (unlock with some +skill gear, maybe max them out later on). Socket Anubis' Wrath relic, preferrably even one with the "Lower Enemy Healt by x%" completion bonus - which makes fast, low-dmg weapons reaaalllllly shine.

Why do you want to attack with the reflect build? To have something to top you up on red (and blue) with the appropriate leeching attribute - %AttackDmg2Health and e-leech. You will probably still do most damage via reflection, but some to feed off with the (fast and maybe even rather low-dmg) weapon.

But then, I have to admit that I never so far went full reflex... ...so please do keep reporting!
