Do I need the Ragnarök DLC?
Hey

I played TQ way back when it was new and looooved it. I just saw this "new" version with lots of additions to the game.

Do I NEED the DLC Ragnarök? Or can I play from start without it and still get all the "new" things?

Dont get me wrong, the DLC looks great! But if the DLC "starts" in act 5, should I wait to buy it until I play some?

Will I "miss" any content from Act 1-4 without the DLC?

Thanks for any feedback you have!

I mean, I remember the quests, maps, items, events and npcs...

But the world seams bigger. More Side quests maybe, but I am SURE I didnt see this much variation in items! Love it!

Or is my is it my bad memory?

If you're talking about Titan Quest vs Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition than the answer is YES. I'm sure it's still here somewhere, but the initial change order listing was huge. Bug fixes, new bosses, fixed area's, quests etc....

The only content you miss until act V is the new rune mastery. Until then it's the same anniversary edition game

well there is the throwing weapons as well, and a few other items I think as well, that will still show up in both vendors and as drops, but you can't buy/pick them up. This means that the potential actual buyable items you could get from a vendor without the dlc is lowered since the thorwing weapons take up some slots

Ragnarok PRO: - nice BGM; some funny Quests, Throwing Weapons, ton of blue Equip with usefull Skills in it. CONS: i dont recommend to start with an 40-new-Chara. You miss some Stat points, Skill points and Resistences. Also, not much XP if you ask me. If you have the Caravan Guy, you can make some ,Stash` Charakters for all those ,jade bow / atlas gloves / lazarus arms... and so on. Oh, and for Artefact Formulas and the Ingredents (sry for bad english)

If you don't have the DLC you won't be able to use the new mastery or any of the new throwning weapons etc.... that show up prior to the DLC's start.

Oh, with the DLC, you start at level 40?

Thank you! then DLC is not for me yet! I wanna play from start! but a new mastery would be nice to have too.

You are granted the option to start at either level 1 or 40. If you go for the second option, you will start your adventure at the Act 5, with all the permanent bonuses granted by the quests from the previous acts.

I have only played a bit so far.

They did added a few unique items that can be found in earlier acts, including the throwing weapons.

Yes, the AE added some small new areas, new secret bosses starting in Epic, new items and a LOT of new hero monsters. It's pretty great all around.

This is not true actually. All of the skill point rewards and attribute point rewards and other increased resistances that come from the rewards of the first 4 acts, are included in the 40 level Accomplished hero if you choose to start from level 40, you lose none of those!!!
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Wait, they didn't fix this bug yet?

I haven't encountered this bug in some 50 hours of Ragnarök play yet.

Well yeah, you have the DLC, so this bug is non-existant. I'm talking if you don't have the DLC, it still drops DLC-exclusive items for you despite you not being able to pick them up.
