Dreams and runes
So i was thinking about a DREAM/RUNES char, anyone here with experience with a melee mage (mainly using Dreamskills, Trance of wrath, Passive Runeskills and leftclick ability)?
Is it recommended to invest points in INT even if im using a melee weapon for STRIKE-SKILL?
Someone told me electrocute dmg also increases with INT since annicersary edition, if thats so, is it worth doing a INT orientated character to increase that dmg with the left-click-runes-skill?

electrocute always was via intelligence. same with vitality damage. I haven't tested dream - rune mastery combination.

As far as I know, all magic damage types get a bonus from INT. So elemental (fire, cold, lightning) and vitality damage. Note, that elementals have subtypes like burning, electrocute..and other over time elemental-subtypes also increases via INT.

I was considering a build that utilizes all the damage absorption from these 2 masteries. 15% active in trance of convalescence, 20% in sacred rage (under 40% health) and another 20% from distortion field (5% proc). Then using the energy shield for melee combat. Building it as a melee caster focused on strength because a lot of the spells would benefit from that. Rune weapon as lmb without transmutation for that total damage bonus and it will also boost any int you do have (these classes have a base int of 190 which is enough to boost ele and vit damage by over 50% when boosted by lvl 10 rune weapon)

i'd think you'd do int cause lotsa moves like temp rift and trance of wrath scale with int..also phantom strike is total damage so its suggesting you to go down the elemental route...also rune feather allows you to miminize your str esp since both give str...

its up to you if you want to dual wield or melee and shield but imo both should work...you prob will slap full maxed rune weapon on left mouse button, phantom strike on right, and prob seal of fate for nukes...go all into int and enough dex to not be crited...prob dont want to go str as that weakens a lot of dreams moves and nothing in rune gets boosted by str so keep that as low as possible but you might have to raise it a little bit cause rune feather wont lower req to 0% or equip reduce all req...go all full mage gear too...

though i never tested distortion wave add on psionic immonlizaition i think is boosted by int and since maxed stacks rune weapon will set your int so high that it will do massive damgae i can see it being used instead of ignored..most rune toons reach 1500-2000 int by the time they cap out their rune stacks which makes any mage move hit like a truck...even phantom stirke as its total damgae so if you have an elemental weapon thats going to hit hard with phantom..

im lvl 37 now with this char, doing it with INT and DEX, he has some hard moments because even with a low blockrecharge the blockchance only depends on the shield im using, so im waiting for lv44 for my 50% chance to block, maybe a bit more.
The damage is nice but this build is eating so many points away, i guess this char is one that shows its true strength at lategame and better gear.
But its a funny class and i love it.

@atomic kid:
im ignoring distortion wave because its a spell u cast before entering combat to him a group, but for that increased INT u need to hit with left-click first,

IM USING:
leftclick: rune weapon
rightclick: thunderstrike
1:runic mines
2:distort reality
3:phantomstrike

plus pet for additional dmg + trance of Conv.
