Batter + Rend Armor
I created this topic just to tell my opinion on this skill and maybe someone will change my mind.
So this skill with it's synergy requires 24 (!!!) skill points to max.
What do we get for investing such high amount of points?

Batter (4 sec recharge) - 75 flat damage/+18% damage/ 50% slower attack speed debuff
Rend armor - let's us hit up to 3 target at once with Batter and decreases armor by 215

90% who play defense mastery characters put 1 point in this skill and 1 point in it's synergy, just to have that extra aoe damage, giving that any shield strike has weapon + shield damage stats this 2 point investment is uber profitable.

But I had second thoughts on maxing this skill, so i did some basic tests just to check if this skill
is viable on Legendary difficulty, aaaaand it is not.

First, I hit same monsters (small albino spiders) with level 1 Batter - they died in 4 hits.
Then I maxed out Batter and hit those monsters again - not much has changed. Spiders still died in 4 hits, but this time there was a little bit less hp left before last hit.

After that i checked if Rend Armor is useful at all. So I maxed it out and proceeded to kill these foul creatures, and oh my, I wasn't happy with the results.
First, I killed 1 spider without using any skills, it took me 10 hits kill it.
Then, I used level 1 Batter with maxed out Rend Armor and proceeded to hit with my mace, hoping that my basic attack would do more damage. Well, it took me 9 hits to kill it, only because initial Batter strike did twice more damage than normal hit.

I know these tests are very primitive, but i don't see a point in doing more of them.
If this skill has near to nothing effect on normal monsters, it is easy to see that you won't find any difference while fighting bosses.Except for that 50% atk speed debuff, but is it worth 12 points?

So the conclusion that I came to is that this skill is 1 point wonder, great AoE damage for a 2 point investment, but maxing it will give benefits only in early game. Probably even ok at Epic difficulty, but the problem is that in early levels there are far more good skill to invest points to.
Sorry for my english (:

Personally i run my warden with maxed Batter, mostly because i had spare points from about mid Epic and the lack of a left mouse skill. It's not that bad tbh (it's a double attack), the debuff can be useful. Rend armor is still bugged (tested again few months ago), adding more points actually reduces the Arc of attack instead of increasing it as in the skill description (with enough points it loses AoE actually), so i just put 1 point into it for the nice AoE.

prefer shield charge with stun and skill disruption and aoe effect. the movement speed is good for initiate too.

cooldown is a bit long and it interupts the on hit commands and some combos cannot handle the mp costs esp after the add on...its used for hitting 3 enemies which helps with aoe...i find wardens shouldnt get it cause they have energy problems with energy reserved taking all their energy to the point that he depends totally on hit proc...and even conquerers wont get it cause its 1 less hit of onslaught...

its a decent skill though that hits 3 twice like shield charge which also hits twice due to it using your shield dps and then adding str modifers to the shield then your base weapon damage ontop that...usually i just grab shield charge caues that disables enemy movesets which can be really good if the enemy can take you out or mess you up if you give them a chance to do anything...and shield charge hits a lot of enemies with maxed add on...

i do find chars like paladin, guardian, and even maybe dream using it on left button click i mean its at least a little better then what dream offers on lbm which takes hits to build up and then only applies its effects on the final hit and ya batter in that case beats that...and paladin and guardian have more then enough energy to keep that on their lmb esp since its 2x hits and hits 3 on use...guardian can also abuse refresh to do it 2x in a row though imo i think guardian is op broken...

Forgot to mention this, agree. Ragnarok gave a great solution tho (what i'm using right now): Stew of Eldhrimnir (+27% strenght, +12.0 energy regen). Farewell energy problems hehe. Or just don't take Batter, that works too :P.

Because any monster in tq has like no physical resistance to begin with. Si it doesnt really matter if you lower their armor/ physical resistance. You should notice that physical and pierce dmg is broken in tq, when you compare them to any other dmg sources.
