Can i activate a physical copy of Titan Quest I own on Steam?
Hello,

So I own a physical copy of a Deluxe edition of Titan quest + Immortal Throne that I purchased waaaaaaay back from a store.

Is there a way to activate it here or ask the devs to grant me acess to the online version of it on Steam? I dont think I would pay it again here, but I do want to purchase the newest expansion Ragnarök.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The devs have no control over the physical copies from long ago. To purchase Ragnarok you MUST purchase the Anniversary Edition.

Well, you can wait until it gets 75%/80% discount as it happens many times during the year.

From what I've heard the DLC is not really top notch anyway, there're probably some community mods out there that are better polished.

The copy you have was produced by THQ. The Anniversary Edition is by Nordic so you're looking at 2 different companies.

Plus you need the Anniversary Edition to play Ragnarok, you can't use the older versions.

If you want to play Ragnarok you're going to have to bite the bullet and buy the Anniversary Edition on Steam first. Sorry for the bad news.

When they released the new version of TQ, with its anniversary edition in 2016, THQ Nordic offered the new release to every owner of an old steam version. The question concerning the owners of an old physical copy of the former version of TQ (CD or DVD) has never been replied by Nordic, which isn't really fair.
I'm one of these old gamers owner of physical copies of the game (in Deluxe Edition too), and I'd been interested into the Devs point of view, never released, on this epic question, in order to know if I'd get into Ragnarok, or not.

This was answered by THQ Nordic according to this post.

Thanks for your answer, i hadn't found this topic.
Anyway that's just that the devs don't want to offer it, no other excuse to find, as it is easy to state this is the steam policy, bla-bla... just too many CD retail versions sold, so a lot of business lacking after that.
Just see what happend with borderlands : they created an activator-tools to add the retail games to the steam accounts as their CD-keys were not working on steam record system.
Idem, in another way, with 2K offering the steam version of Bioshock for owners of the so-old CD copies of their game. Very kind from them.
Well, anyway that's not a big deal, I'll just won't go on Ragnarok and launch back my old version of TQ when I'll want some kill'em all fun time.
Cheers !
