How do you open the chest in king gylfis hall. ive completed act 5 and it still wont open

It opens after you kill the 4 minibosses of that cult; before travel to Asgard.

You should be able to open it after your return from the Temple of Wodan (when you bring the broken lance and after you talk to the king).

I was wondering same thing. I freed the king too when I used Lokis staff on him. It still says "sealed by quest"

Same problem on epic, I had it closed all times. Does it deal with quest achievemnt? In the sense of having marked in quest log, If not, no problem.

Not meaning to insult, but after you killed the four bosses, did you go down and take the Magic Mistletoe from the altar in the deep central chamber? The magic barrier that prevented you from getting to the altar is gone after you kill all four bosses. (It's not clear, but SOP, just click the altar to get the Mistletoe... and watch out for the guardians, they're mean coming at you in a wad.) When I gave Gilfi the Mistletoe, I could open the chest. What was in it was a Mistletoe Relic to affix to one of your weapons. I didn't use it, I had better already.

Saw that, one of the reasons I wasn't interested in the Mistletoe relic. I've noticed a LOT of Relics and Charms are completing without Completion Bonuses. This just began happening for me since I returned to playing a couple of months ago (stopped in 2019), not sure how long it's been going on. Just completed a Venom Sack that didn't have the bonus. Happening with some Artifacts, too, especially the ones given as rewards for completing some NPC task. I REALLY don't like not getting that bonus! Usually the true value of the completed Relic/Charm is found in its Completion Bonus added to its set buffs.

Venom Sack having a chance to not having completion bonus is actually a bug. Only the artefacts that guy from Corinth gives you as reward are the ones that never had completion bonus.

I've had more than one Charm complete without a bonus since I began playing again a couple of months ago (not sure about Relics, other than Mistletoe from Gilfi chest). That never happened before I began playing again. It seems to be a random bug that happens mainly with Charms. NPCs giving Artifacts is new since I returned to the game, too. Before NPCs usually only gave Shards, not completed, and never Artifacts.

See it still didnt open. When i play i play as a completionist so i complete everything before moving on to the new area and if theres something that unlocks in a new area for and older area ill go back and do that to

Try joining multiplayer with someone who already opened the gates, then see if they are opened for you in single, if not, activate the portal anyway.

So you gave him the mistletoe and you have also given him the "broken spear", also all the quests show as closed/completed in your quest log? talked to everyone? and it still stays closed!
Is this just with one character or more in 4 years?
