if you can find pieces of gear giving you any kind of dmg like "static,smoldering,chilling,heavy,sharp,tainted... of destruction" (weapons and rings) then you will be alright, even putting some incomplete pieces of relics to ad more dmg will do the trick.

I don't normally fight him until level 6. Those extra skill points can help, and it's easy to reach that before him. I just clear the right side of that area. For that matter, I don't leave the area until level 7 after fighting him a few times. I would think distortion wave would cut it. Maybe you just need some more points in it. The other two potentially useful skills you have toward the bottom of the dream tree are nightmare (pets serve as good distractions, even if you have to run around in circles and let them do the work) and phantom strike with dream stealer.

Yeah, nessus has always been pretty tough. Just farm the enemies around his area for a bit to level up and become stronger.

Level 5 is a bit on the low side. Level 7 or 8 would be what I normally have when I get there.

I had a feeling Nessus got somewhat beefed up when I passed him on my last run. Might have been my imagination, though.

i just realized you can AI leash nessus, just run from him until he starts running back then you run back to leash him again works really good for DoT builds

Yes you could but this tactic doesn't work with other bosses. Like with minotaur. So it's better to have more relyable ways to kill bosses

One other thing that might help: He has one melee attack that hit's really hard, and then goes on cooldown for some ten-ish seconds. Before this hit comes, he "charges" this strike for more than a second, so looking out for this somewhat obvious telegraph, and breaking contact when the "charge" starts, can do miracles.

Another thing is to look out for the traps his bodyguards toss out and smash these ASAP. Those things are small, easily overlooked in the fray, and really hurtful, but they break after one hit or maybe two...

At this point in the game, I'll take whatever cheap advantage I can find. The lack of skills is the primary problem. Just need one good one.

I would avoid his bodyguards altogether. Don't run into the fray. Make him run toward you, and don't get close enough to anyone else. Might have to face one or two, but it's trouble to take on the group plus him.
