Lightning Dash
I haven't seen much discussion on Lightning Dash. This skill doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. A left button auto-attack or an ability with a cooldown.

It has a .7 second cooldown, so, if you have no recharge items, you'll get one or two normal attacks off between each time it is used. Maxed it procs almost 1/3rd of the time which will do +200% damage, lightning damage and freeze. So, on average, those procs will occur every 2.1 seconds if you auto-attack with it, though, it will still cost you 20 mana when it doesn't proc.

The problem is that it doesn't proc other abilities. No shield attacks, no rune word explode, no dual wield abilities. While I can understand that the ability may become overpowered if it procs those things, it's useless for Paladins and other classes that have those skills. Really, Paladin is the best class for this and it fails big time as no shield procs will go unless you attack during it's cooldown which means you don't want to reduce it's recharge rate.

I think that these devs didn't heed the work done by the devs before them. Ok, even by their own devs. Literally Onslaught, Rune Weapon, Calculated Strike and Psionic Touch all have charge levels to offset the concept of do this on every hit.

Give it charge levels or increase the cooldown time. Sounds crazy, but let the auto-attacks hit more often and let this work as a shield bash of some sort. Have it give +50% more damage 20% of the time for the next 3 seconds, with a 5 second cooldown. There you can get a buff, auto-attack with the buff, get a chance to reduce the cooldown for effectiveness and can still use your other abilities.

Think that is activated upon damage...anyhow, never could find any real reason to waste spell point on it. By the time you get to that level you're usually powerful enough to deal with NPCs w/o having to run like crazy ;-)

Lightning dash is a good skill for those who make "accomplished heroes" so you can build around it. At that point, the tree doesn't really matter anymore. However, my point is that it really fails at both things it is trying to accomplish. Being an auto-attack and being a CD skill.

I love playing as Paladin and I was also disappointed with the new Storm Mastery skills. It would be pretty cool for a Paladin if the auto attack procs the Lightning Bold skill.

I don't know why all you guys hate or been disappointed of this new skill? I have a Prophet class hero basic on reflect dmg and this skill was the missing part of whole build! Very useful to move between all groups of monster that can save time for moving around the map! Didn't try it on another build but think will handle with a lot of hybrids 😉

It can help you reach enemies instant, and more effective with some build like melee Druid/Oracle,... or range characters without any auto attack skill,
