Casting build's, or build's based on staff
For me other than Oracle (Storm/Spirit) or summoner (Earth/Nature). I just don't see any builds that can use a staff effectively to end game ( Legendary ).

Be glad to be proven wrong, but every tube vid or build guild I fine tends to move to melee more than anything, and throwing weapon's or bow, and almost no really good builds for a staff user.

I wish the game were not quite so melee build oriented, and had a little more diversity in that respect.

Elementalist is in there too, but most of the build guild's you will find for it lean towards melee or throwing weapons.

I mean this is what I see, just from trying to find a good Staff build, any that can be viable to end game ( Legendary ) with a staff.

Diviner (Spirit+Dream) is actually a good staff build if you plan on playing ternion and with the added Psionic Beam from Atlantis, you can have two staff attack skill Ternion for area and Psionic Touch for piercing. This mastery focus on Vitality and Electric Burn and there is this Carnus set that specially created for this mastery combination, the only thing this set lack is attack speed.

With the following item (and 4:3 INT:DEX) you can have a decent survivabilty but still lack attack speed, but you can always change from auto attack diviner into a caster diviner

Well spellcasters are supposed to fight with spells. Using the staff is hard and will need tons of extra balance since spellcasters are fragile. Tq has a great variety of different stuff you can combine and with some extend research you may end up in some crazy builds no one has tried or though of yet.

I am actually very glad that there are a few builds that can use the staff as a fighting weapon. Ternion can become really powerful.

yes spirit / dream (storm) is and Oracle and yes Ternion is one build i made took to epic, but is a glass cannon, took my summoner Earth/Nature all the way through legendary, it was and easy run with it, the Ternion or Oracle is not as viable now as it was before AE, seems even more squishy than before at high levels.

Really the options for a staff build are pretty lame or seem so to me.

EDIT>> I have never liked playing Melee in any game, I do like some ranged throwing builds the dragon slayer is okay, but testy for me.

EDIT OOP's I ment Spirit/ storm for Oracle

Try prophet, one of the most versatile and tacticals builds, good sinergies, main attack with psionic and his new toy it's a fast firing, not to mention ice shards, debuffings with spellbreaker and squall, distortion wave is fun...
Rune combos also has some ternion-like bursts with thunder strike, but gives also some fragility.

A Spirit+Dream using Praxidikae is a very strong combo with deadly staff atacks.

those are okay build's, but IMO over all they are not as viable as Melee or dex, they are second rate to those two in most every way.

I like the game, but the balance even when I played it when it first came out has always seemed very much slanted towards Melee, with dex coming in second, and caster at the back of the pack.

There are some good very viable at end game caster builds, but by far they have always seemed very few compared to melee, and dex builds.

i played this staff based oracle before anniversary update and boss resistances inmunity buff, you can't do this right now, any "horror" staff was the key.

I remember when i posted this video on a old forum and caused a lot of discussion they thought i was cheating xD

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0psyfprjj_g

it was a green staff that had 15% life reduction per hit and some green rings with 3% chance of 97% life reduction multiply this with 3 proyectiles per attack and explode when hit.

But now this build is good only for normal enemies :(

Yepper's! There were some tricky things with the right staff, and gear that could be done, but just as and example start looking up TQ build video's and see how many of them carry a staff. I have found very few, actually only some that are showing off there boss kill with a staff mostly at best, and many of those could be suspect.

The main build videos you find will be melee or dex gear, some do pump intel, but not for staff use very often normally throwing dex gear.

The Oracle has some build vid's there are a few that try the reflection build, but even those tend to use dex throwing weapons or pump strength enough to use Melee weapon.

The staff just seems to be and Item you can use but late epic, and legendary it starts to play out, and the task is normally major harder with a staff build.

Which makes me admire those that finish with a staff much more. It does make the game much harder to be a full staff use caster.

Theres a new atlantis staff with 30% life reduction and require strengt but tried to farm like 100 times (i restarted games some times to load another seed) and never dropped that stupid monster.
Akelasan Jun 8, 2019 @ 6:11am
... yea, one of the bigest problems with this game that it heavily favours melee builds and even with recent updates not much was done to change it for casters [well at least we got autocast now]...

It is still a very engrossing game as far as the number of builds, but as I said the true caster with a staff build's that are viable end game are lacking.

( I mean you can push through with a staff on anything, but your death probability is going to be high with most of them. Even Oracle for me has been very testy this round, I found Oracle build to be much stronger in the original game, but I probably had better hand Eye coordination then.)

I personally have never found soothsayer to be best with a staff, and could not push it very far, and feel good about it with a staff.

and yes JewelryStar I did say that the Oracle build is still viable, and one of the few in depth Vids you will find on the net explaining a staff caster build.

In fact I am pushing an Oracle build through Epic right now, and although the deaths have been higher than I want, it is so far still viable. Which is a Ternion necessary build too

The other Build I have pushed through and completed legendary and done well using a staff is Earth/Nature (Summoner) which is still a viable through end game Staff only build, but will probably do better with a ranged throwing weapon, or pump strength and use a melee, but the Earth/Nature summoner has served me well with a staff.

I'd prefer to be a caster, but I'd more prefer survivability. Some are still viable, but between the weaker gear and lack of a shield, you'll probably end up more frail.

Right now making a psionic touch templar. I put 2:1 int/str so im in heavy armor and i fight with the staff .So far im pretty unkillable and kick ass with the lv 40 super fast attack with my staff.
