With the following item (and 4:3 INT:DEX) you can have a decent survivabilty but still lack attack speed, but you can always change from auto attack diviner into a caster diviner

I am actually very glad that there are a few builds that can use the staff as a fighting weapon. Ternion can become really powerful.
Really the options for a staff build are pretty lame or seem so to me.
EDIT>> I have never liked playing Melee in any game, I do like some ranged throwing builds the dragon slayer is okay, but testy for me.
EDIT OOP's I ment Spirit/ storm for Oracle
Rune combos also has some ternion-like bursts with thunder strike, but gives also some fragility.
I like the game, but the balance even when I played it when it first came out has always seemed very much slanted towards Melee, with dex coming in second, and caster at the back of the pack.
There are some good very viable at end game caster builds, but by far they have always seemed very few compared to melee, and dex builds.

I remember when i posted this video on a old forum and caused a lot of discussion they thought i was cheating xD

it was a green staff that had 15% life reduction per hit and some green rings with 3% chance of 97% life reduction multiply this with 3 proyectiles per attack and explode when hit.
But now this build is good only for normal enemies :(
The main build videos you find will be melee or dex gear, some do pump intel, but not for staff use very often normally throwing dex gear.
The Oracle has some build vid's there are a few that try the reflection build, but even those tend to use dex throwing weapons or pump strength enough to use Melee weapon.
The staff just seems to be and Item you can use but late epic, and legendary it starts to play out, and the task is normally major harder with a staff build.
Which makes me admire those that finish with a staff much more. It does make the game much harder to be a full staff use caster.
( I mean you can push through with a staff on anything, but your death probability is going to be high with most of them. Even Oracle for me has been very testy this round, I found Oracle build to be much stronger in the original game, but I probably had better hand Eye coordination then.)
I personally have never found soothsayer to be best with a staff, and could not push it very far, and feel good about it with a staff.
and yes JewelryStar I did say that the Oracle build is still viable, and one of the few in depth Vids you will find on the net explaining a staff caster build.
In fact I am pushing an Oracle build through Epic right now, and although the deaths have been higher than I want, it is so far still viable. Which is a Ternion necessary build too
The other Build I have pushed through and completed legendary and done well using a staff is Earth/Nature (Summoner) which is still a viable through end game Staff only build, but will probably do better with a ranged throwing weapon, or pump strength and use a melee, but the Earth/Nature summoner has served me well with a staff.
