Comprehensive Total Damage Calculator
Hey all,

First time for me posting in this game's discussion threads. I was wondering if anyone has tried to make a comprehensive total damage calculator for this game. Is that even possible? Is it too complex/too many variables?

Basically, I'm frustrated at looking at my character screen and seeing the "Sheet DPS" for my character, knowing full well its not my actual dmg.

As an aside, is there any mods that add damage flyoffs(besides the one for crits in the game already)?

I'd like to know that using x item/weapon/skill is increasing my damage more than using y. Right now I can vaguely tell if something is doing more dmg to something than another. That doesn't help any when you encounter an enemy with resistances to your dmg type.

Any help or leads would be much appreciated. :)

it shouldnt be too hard to calculate it yourself.
see what raw damage you inflict and what their damage types are.
check bonuses for those damage types, be it from other gear, stats or skills.
calculate damage per hit from multiplier and damage for each type, then add them up.
multiply by attack speed.
some skills like dual wield/shield passives and various LMB replacement skills will make things a bit harder, but that is the gist of it.

Any tips how I'd go about doing that? lol I'm not great with maths.

just... do it? I see no issue in multiplying and adding a few numbers.

Calculating POTENTIAL damage output is very easy, but calculating the estimated ACTUAL damage is very frustrating. These two numbers would be very different. For example you need to take resistance and resistance reduction into consideration, AOE and single target etc etc.

You aren't being very helpful. :/ Just condescending. If you aren't going to contribute in a meaningful way do you mind leaving?

instead of acting like I just insulted you, being a bit more precise in what you cant do might help.
I gave you the process to follow, now either do it or tell me exactly why you cant.
because so far, I really do see no issue in multiplying and adding a few numbers. grab your calculator if you cant do it in your head, nobody is going to mock you for it.

For one thing, something like this physicalDamage=(physicalDamageDV * ((strengthDV/500)+1)) + (strengthDV*0.04) is more helpful than this:

My biggest problem with your previous post was that when you said

it seemed like you were making an assumption that since you had no problems with it no one else could possibly have issues. I realize its a text medium so things can be misunderstood, but the way you phrase it can appear very egotistical and insensitive.

I mean I had no idea where to start and am asking for help and then you say

I hear you. I admit I am pretty clueless about exact damage. I just look at damage per second and go with that. We face like a hundred different baddies in these games and I can't imagine finding exactly how much damage my character, with her certain weapons and skills, can do to each one.

Here [www.dropbox.com] is a link to an Excel Spreadsheet you can use. I have no idea how accurate it is, if it was designed for TQ:IT, or TQ:AE; or even where I found the thing. It has been sitting in my TQ folder for longer than I can remember.

Well that's the big problem, the DPS listed only takes into account your raw dmg from weapons, attack speed, % based physical and points into stats.

The best thing that would help is like most other arpg's and have some sort of dmg number flyoffs above a creature's head. The only thing in game right now is the crit dmg flyoffs. Like in diablo 3 or POE you get dmg numbers anytime you hit something.

If you want to see your actual damage numbers in game, hit your game with a hex editor, find the values '0F 86 6D 02 00 00' and replace them with '90 90 90 90 90 90'.
It tricks the game in to thinking all damage is crit damage, so it displays everything.

Do you know if this would prevent me from doing multiplayer or if steam achievements would be disabled?

Thanks for this info btw. :D:

No idea sorry - haven't actually tried it myself, although I intend to one day. I don't expect it would effect either though.

so how is elemental dmg easy, from what i understand its all of the elements and then divided into 3 since their are 3 elemental dmg types, however does elemental dmg%+ also increase fire dmg lighting dmg frost dmg of pure elemental types like in the earth tree there is a weapon buff at lvl 1 that makes you do fire dmg is this dmg getting increased and if so does the fire dmg%+ from this skill also increase elemental dmgs, youre telling me this is easy??!!!
also you have given 0 ratios for dmg like for example
x amount of strength is x phys dmg so saying its easy is hypocritical
thirdly questions are never stupid only the answers that are given are!
instead of being lazy just give a concrete answer you get alot less backlash that way
