Legendary item upgrade
Hi, I was wondering if someone can shed some light on the Legendary item upgrade.
First, is the upgrade only one item by cycle. Meaning 3 upgrade max per character?
If so it`s pretty lame.

Second, does anyone know if the upgrade is random or fixed?
Also, if anyone knows a wiki with info like that I'd be happy if someone could show me a link.

Thank you in avance.

Can confirm that you only get one item per playthrough.

Not sure about whether upgrade is random or fixed. I can provide mine for comparison if someone else has upgraded the same item (although I doubt it).

I upgraded Obolus amulet.

It went from:
20 armor
32% elemental resistance
40% poison resistance
15% less damage from undead
240 health
65 defensive ability

To:
38 armor
18 strength
28% elemental resistance
45% poison resistance
15% less damage from undead
240 health
65 defensive ability

Note that elemental resistance actually went down for me.

All stats reroll and 1 affix will be added. Nice for legendaries with a bad roll.

The affix is fixed for the character/item, which means if you want a different affix for an item, you need to try it with a different character. At least that's what I heard.

Note that the upgrade can change the level requirement for the item. I wasn't able to equip my legendary weapon after upgrading it and had to level up with my fists. :steamhappy:

What do you mean the affix is fixed for the character? If you play a conqueror for example, you'll get an affix that suits the class?

Also, what I would like to know is if the affix is dependant on the difficulty you 'enhance' the item. Meaning that you'll get better affixes in higher difficulties.

Wow that's pretty terrible. I didn't know that stats could actually go down. I hope they fix that in a patch in the future. I didn't write down the stats before but they ended up like this:

Darkseer (armor)
72 Armor

+24 armor
+21% Armor protection
+340 Health
+39% Energy Regeneration
+84 Defensive Ability
+2 to summon nightmare
+2 to Chaotic Resonance

Now that I know it was a limited thing I know I should`ve waited until I was in Legendary difficulty with the best of the best gear.

Not one, but random, could be one or two.

It would be better if they change the quest reward so that you can put a relic or charm into an epic or legendary item. The 'Squabbling Brothers' quest also needs to get a better reward or it's just not worth to do.

I agree with you but I get it could unbalance the game or at least would required some tweaking.

No, it means that the affix is random, but fixed. You can try to upgrade the same item with the same character many times by resetting the quest and you will always get the same affix, but you don't know which one it could be without trying it. Basically pseudo-random. There is no real randomness in computers. All "random" values are based on some kind of seed. In this case, the seed would be the character.

Two affixes for one legendary item would be really nice, I hope you're right.
I only got one affix, which was +12% attacks speed and -8% requirements, not sure what the affix is called since TQDB is down right now.
Somewhere, there's probably already a lucky guy with veteran's and some other awesome affix.

Well, putting affixes and suffixes on them does that already. The problem here is that the game is way to easy already. Especially Act 5 is so easy in legendary that it's not even fun. I had hoped they make the game more challenging in Act 5 but as it turns out it's easier than Act 3 & 4.

then something is wrong with my save.
I back up before upgrading, upgrade, put item into storage, then delete the save and paste in the backup.
after doing that a few times, I get a good variation of affixes. sadly nothing too special so far, but it still seems more or less random and not fixed.

those are two affixes, unless ragnarök added a new one. a requirement reduction prefix and an attack speed suffix to be precise. if you want the actual affix names, no idea, check in TQVault.
in my testing I have also always gotten two affixes.

As I said, I heard that this is the case (in this forum), but I could be wrong about it. Thanks for clarifying.

No, it's one affix. I checked when I upgraded the item. I found those exact stats under one affix name on TQ-DB.

With Mead of Poetry in inventory quest giver says I see you have no mead yet. Is there another Mead or another step? Does quest have to be done on normal before Legendary?

Did you also get the asgardian mead from that goat in asgard?
