Titan Quest AE Nearly Too Hard (Especially By Epic Typhon)!
First of all, let me just say I'm not exactly a beginner to this game, I actually beat all difficulties with a bow haruspex a long time ago successfully legit; even legendary. But after the changes made in AE, I can barely get past Epic act 3 where Typhon is. To be honest, I had quite enough deaths just getting to the point to fight him. By the time I got to that prick, I died like over 30 times before finally finishing him! Not to mention I was playing a spear haruspex. Maybe I am not doing the right build for me, but dream doesn't seem quite overpowered like it used to be in IT.
I was thinking about trying a conqueror (warfare and defense) I believe it is. At least then I can use onslaught and those synergies instead of psionic touch. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. It can be I guess a number of things. Anything from not putting points into the right skills, to not knowing how to allocate stat points correctly, to not farming enough in certain areas for better gear before moving to the next area, etc. Maybe I am not doing well with my resistances or not using the hotkeys the right way. Please can someone give me some advice, because all I want to do is get just one character that is legit; that can plow through Legendary without any trouble. I really wish I knew what I was doing wrong. Also, I thought the game was hard enough in Immortal Throne, but Anniversary Edition is nearly impossible after Epic Act 2! Not to mention the extra bosses that are like impossible to farm for a melee toon, like Talos or the Manticore. I mean how can anybody play through the whole AE legit with 0 deaths when fighting bosses like that?? There has got to be something I am not doing right, but I don't know what it is. Maybe I need more levels before moving to different areas; I wish I knew how I am messing up. Or maybe it is because I wasn't doing what one person I read about in another forum on this game was doing with the hotkeys...Like having the health pots on the r key and energy on e?

So maybe someone can give me some advice here; honestly looking for the easiest cookie cutter build possible for AE. I prefer a build with melee and sword or spear and shield, but anything that works for someone please tell me about. I mainly want a build that will soar through Legendary if possible, so please help me someone. I am getting ready to quit to be honest...(:

Relax, AE is not that hard, although it is harder than TQIT.
If you know how to correctly fight Typhon such as don't get hit by the meteors and don't attack him while he cast reflect, the main reason you can't survive Typhon should be his life leech skill. This skill has 2 parts. The first part is % hp reduction, which may be amplified by your negative vitality resist, the second part is life leech per second, which is more than doubled compared with TQIT. So to conclude, you need vitality resist and life leech resist, and more hp is always good. You may also need more fire/lightning/poison reisst, but these skills aren't really buffed in AE, if you can survive them in IT you should not have problem with them in AE.
Don't give up, AE is harder in some ways than IT but it's better balanced. You may have to focus more on defense and resistances. Another thing is geting to know the bosses so you can be prepared for them. There are some good Youtube channels for TQ:AE. Videos like this ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5T5ByAKdcM&list=PL-Bj776S3FVdSTSPk7BJKhiqCM1T4U95w&index=12 ) are a big help. He also did a playthrough and he explained his strategy before fighting the major bosses. He made it look easy, which it is if you know how to prepare. The Line of Epic Heroes has good vids too.

My first character to beat Legendary in the AE is a harbinger who only had 2 deaths on his sheet. Both happened in Epic and they were entirely my fault. I use him to farm the Hydra, Manticore and Necrolich Dragon on Legendary. He's sturdier than my champion and has an easier time running past trash mobs. I do skip Talos, because he takes too long to kill and I can't leech health from him.

Max out your resistances, especially vitality and pierce.
Even on normal, later bosses are just ridiculous and can one shot you.
Normal Hades is just impossible what with that AOE that follows you that doesn't even need to touch you to kill you and isn't slower than you, in a matter of seconds and those multiple projectiles he fires bounce around and stun you so you can't outrun the AOE. I could dodge those projectiles if they just dissipated on impact with walls instead of coming back, there's barely any room to fight.

I can't dodge Cerberus' breath AND that kinda poison maze thing at the same time. I'll run into one or the other. Barely did it hoping he'd never breath on me when the poison cracks appear.

and screw that stupid albino spider hero.

10 deaths so far because of so many one shots.

Doing an elementalist right now.
Hard at first, then easy midgame and now back to hard on the expansion.
I've never succeeded with melee builds even in the original game (I usually just got to Typhon and couldn't beat him) although I would like to do a conqueror sometime.

I managed to at least complete normal using a Brigand in the original but that was mostly due to me being ranged with fast primary attacks and running speed. My damage wasn't very good so I'd just whittle bosses down while dodging their ranged stuff.

and now I'm stuck on Hades because no matter how hard I try, I always manage to run into one of the multiple orbs he fires, get stunned and my life drops like a brick when that moving AOE touches me.

You are simply undergeared and too squishy and your build is probably unoptimized as well. Elementalist can be very squishy class but shouldn't have problems with bosses because you can kite most of time, depending what skills you use.

I'm glad this game requires bit more skill&knowledge now with the AE version.
Trouble is, I've never had much luck with getting gear in loot.
So farming would take forever.

Kiting is tough too unless the enemy is really slow and melee.

Never really been able to follow builds either.

and if I have to farm for days or even weeks just for one boss (and there are lots of them), I don't know what I'm going to do.

Possibly, Elementalist isn't right for me, though I do want to keep the stormcaller class in.

I can't count how many hours I've put into this game (both original and AE), yet I barely know much due to how complicated it is.
Nah this is very simple game compared to grim dawn for example. You could try storm+spirit for a great ternion attack spammer build. Just focus on getting % lighting damage things from storm and gear and maxing ternion from spirit.

There's no such thing as luck, just hard work! You shouldn't have to farm at all in normal, as the game réally starts to get harder in last act of epic and onwards.

For elementalist i would definately pick eruption as it allows you to kite and volcanic orb coz it's just good. I would say it's not worth it to get spells from storm expect squall for its obvious -resist etc debuffs. Wisp is also must for eye of the storm. With spare points you could get core dweller and beef it up with some skills. It makes decent tank later on.
So far I got full squall and spell breaker as well as some points in whisp and single points in the fire and frost weapon enchantment skills (and the upgrades)
I suppose I should swap the ice shard for volcanic orb.

Sounds to me your build is the problem then. No idea what you're doing with full spell breaker. Ice shard is probably the worst attack spell in both of these masteries. You don't really need storm nimbus if you're focusing on fire damage. 1 point in wisp is enough, extra points will do no good. At level 53 your build could look like this.

You are probably lower level, so i would prioritize earth enchantment, volcanic orb+fragmentation, then volativity+eruption. Putting points to storm mastery here and there for added HP and stats, but not taking many skills yet. Squall is no good without big investement anyways.

This leaves you 64 points to do use as you wish. That's more than enough for core dweller or even storm nimbus+static charge and lightning bolt+chain lighting.

Actually I was going to focus on storm more than earth but if you think I should focus on earth more.
I think I'm level 39 and I've maxed both masteries.
You could swap ice shards with core dweller. With a CD bosse will attack him instead of you, so you can just use your attack spells and staffspam.

Earth is better i'd say if you choose between those 2.
