attribute points:
- int: 0. flat, no points invested
- dex: you need to decide a final build value (the target for level 61-65 when you will be finishing legendary), try to look on the titan quest DB what you would like to go for (drops and fortune permitting). Anyway, assassins are proficient with swords so minimum 250 dex is needed. I recommend to reach at least 300 but a good value is 385 to wear legendary stonebinder cuffs. you decide everything is legit but a bit more dex is always healthy.
- str: here is where the majority of the attribute points goes. Final str value of about 500 required
- energy: 0. flat, no points invested
- life: leave life to what gear and mastery bar advancement gives to your character. Invest in life only after level 65 if you have spare attribute points, so if you already are meeting all gear requirements. This because with greater difficulty the importance of resistence given by your gear is more important than having some more points in health.
So you need to insist on str and dex only, str is more important at the beginning of the game and dex later on (OA and DA).
Armor?
Since you will be focusing on str, focus on str based armor and keep your gear top notch thanks to loot and vendors also.
Vendors need to be checked constantly because they usually have medium/low equipment but sometimes expecially good stuff appears. My final axe for a lvl 67 conqueror comes from a vendor...
As for weapons, assassins go for melee so maces, axes, swords. No spears! You want to put the weapon trainig skill to good use. Since rogue boosts the piercing damage I would suggest to go for swords, dual wielding (thanks to the skill in the warfare section).
Maybe you know it already: go for onslaught as the standard attack and leave calculated strike. Don't max onslaught at the beginning of the game though since the +% pays off better after some levels.
Ask freely if I was unclear or forgot something
EDIT: I forgot...
A good way to assign skill points is to invest 2 points inthe mastery bar and 1 skill points in skills
Also int is not usless it increases poison damage. However I wouldint recomend using any level points on it.
Also use both onslaught and calculated strikes, or did you not know there was a 2nd weapon setup and a swap hotkey. Just build up onslaught then swap to calculated strikes.
If your a real master assassin your using lethal or war on your 4th hit of strike for serious serious damage.
Blade Honing bonus is multiplicative, not additive I believe. So with 10% base pierce ration from sword, your new pierce ratio with Blade Honing isn't too large. Most of your damage should still be physical then instead of piercing. Makes a bigger impact on high pierce ratio weapons like spears that have ~30% base pierce ratio.
Int doesn't boost poison damage. Dex does (along with pierce and bleeding). Int boosts elemental and vitality damage.
Personally prefer just having the single LMB, don't want to have to juggle two of them and it saves up points to invest in other skills by only having one. Onslaught has a lot of good synergies so I went for that one. But you can potentially use both if you're willing to drop points elsewhere in your build.
Onslaught is a more complete auto attack, also gives tons of defensive value. Calculated strike is OK, only a preferred option if you really need skills points elsewhere, and you know what you're doing.
