Best Single Mastery to clear the game
I was aiming to get the achievement for beating the game with a single mastery character. I found out most mages are glass canons if single mastery. I was thinking about Hunter or Melee Dream. Any suggestions?

I did it with Warfare (dual wield). It was very easy.

Dual wielders lack defense in massive fights. Any tips to survive easier?

Defense shouldn't be a problem on normal difficulty. I agree for legendary difficulty, but normal should be very easy. Battle Standart is enough to deal with any large group of enemies. Other than that, just balance your resistances. Defensive Ability isn't really a problem so early on, but if necessary, equip items with +DA or +DEX.

I did it with Hunter, very easy as well.

Dream on Normal diffuculty, obviously. DW+PI, DR+TR, Super Duper Ninja (phantom) Strike at early stages. 1 point Nightmare. Lucid Dreams. Win. Just spam 1-2 abilities. Warning: could be boring )

Different story at Legendary dif (Epic still can be fine), cuz EBD (electrical dot) ain't that much powerful, unless you have ton of +EBD gear.

To get the Specialist achievement, he only needs to beat the game on Normal difficulty (see the achievement description). Dream would be definitely a good choice for that.

So dream with sword and shield?

also electrical burn damage is incredibly powerful early on.
if you rush towards trance of wrath, you can turn into a passive death machine. I accidentally did that with my diviner, all I had to do in most of normal was run through stuff to kill it, thats all it takes. run through, aura debuffs and deals electric burn damage (that is increased by the debuff as well), wait a sec, go back and collect the spoils. much less powerful in epic and onwards though.

Hunter with maxed out marksmanship skill will be easy to do in normal.

Honestly since most of normal is a cakewalk, just about any mastery would work. It really only becomes problematic with any of them once you move into the next diffs (which doesnt matter for the chieve). As above stated though, Dream is probably the easiest (but possibly most boring as well lol) and is probably what I will choose myself just cuz it'll be fast and it will pair well with pretty much anything if I decide to keep going with that character

DA = defense. I'd say about 600 DA in act 4 normal is good, about 800-900 in act 4 epic, and 1200+ for melee in act 4 legendary. That's enough to avoid a lot of attacks from enemies and never (or almost never) be critted. DW melee better have some good CCs to deal with machae archers as well. Because you won't be able to tank those.

If you're melee, and you see red #s flying across the screen regularly, then that is how you know that your DA is too low.

Hunter. You can keep your distance with the bow. There's a few enemies that can gouge your health bar starting in Act 3 like the dragonian spellcasters but just use your feet to avoid them and don't be afraid to smack the ESC key and quit if your health gets low

So far so good. I am not sure about what kind of armor I should focus : Mages or Heavy ?

Are there any benefits of having only one madtery?
Or is it only handicaps?
Like self imposed challenges?

It's an achievement...

Also, Nature with early rush to the third wolf can do it easily. Suffers from "toy that plays itself"-syndrome, though...
