Apparently, the release state of the PC port was, for lack of a better term, crap. Has it been fixed in any way?, or is it still a crappy port?

played fine for me and I had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ computer back then

all in the settings, in windows, graphic card control panel settings, I don;t know your system information, most older games like this were built with Hollywood type of funding and computer hardware required for their teams. I would always expect bad performance trying to run a game like this with high settings with a 2gb card with 16gb ram, with a quad core, The game runs good with my hardware, saying the least I am outdated not going to ddr4, for at least ten years when prices for it drop around 100 dollars for 64gb of ram.
running it high settings with CPU AMD Fx 8350 under-clocked 2.8GHz/2 modules 16gb=32gb-RAM/ AMD-RX580-8GB/5 system fans not counting cpu-fan-or other related hardware cooling.

I wondered about that too.

Also of concern to me, the in-game videos were massive and had to be streamed to watch them originally at release. There was no way to pre-download them. Is that still the case?

Far as the PC version goes, still think they're streaming only

The video cinematic parts look like my computer is processing the events and match my video settings, not a prerecorded event of CGI work.

runs perfectly well. (i even played this on a weak pc when it was released. just had to turn down some graphics back then...)

I'm having crashing issues every 15-30 min. I can't figure out what's wrong. Funny thing is, I played this game before with a lower rig and it didn't crash but now I'm playing this game again and with a better rig than before and game's still constantly crashing for some reason. Not having any issues in other games for reference.

I've started playing it today for the first time and just finished Act 2; so far everything worked perfectly except for one time where a resetting time zone pushed me out of bounds and I had to restart the entire Chapter, due to the Checkpoint having been saved exactly at the moment when I got pushed out of the map.

Since you've played it before, the most likely culprit would be legacy leftover from your first install, provided you've migrated your hard drives/SSDs between rigs.

I just got in 2022 don't know which it uses DX11 or Dx 12 but with my setup 95 120 max settings for 2016 seems low but very smooth gorgeous game and good game play and rich story only thing I don't like is 30fps cut scenes other than learning controller for game no issues even let's me in shooting parts KB mouse nice feature. Overall very good entertaining game

Main issue at launch was no way to turn off resolution scaling and horrible performance, iirc. They patched in native res support, and computers improved, so now it looks and plays just fine.
