there is a character in Alan Wake 2 that is played by the same actor that plays the mc in quantum break.
People say that they may be alternate versions of the same character
It does not "officially" tie in because legally it can't. Microsoft owns the rights to Quantum Break so Remedy can't make the claim that they're tied.
You'd have to be completely oblivious to not see the vast and I mean VAST connections to Alan Wake 2 and Control in this game. I'll go into more detail when I'm on my computer and not typing on my phone but Alan Wake 2 wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable for me if I was unaware of the constant connections to Quantum Break present in the game.
I will edit this post with an info dump when I can.
EDIT Incoming... Strap in because there's alot.
(Edit) Ughhh.... apparently time links in youtube don't entirely work correctly on the steam forums. That really sucks because I was linking to very specific sections of some videos that ran like 30+ mins. I'll try to fix these but I already spent too much time on this. So if the video starts at the beginning I guess just skip it for now.
I will be SPOILING Alan Wake 2 and Quantum Break in this post. If you haven't played either of these games or both please do yourself a favor and do not read my post as I'll be spoiling some of the most interesting aspects of these games.
Seriously, Quantum Break is my favorite Remedy game and I've beaten all of them (except Control which I'll get to later) so please at least play the game blind before I ruin it for you.
That said, let's start with the most obvious tie-ins before we get to the more interesting ones.
1. Alan Wake, Mr. Scratch, Alex Casey (alternate version of Max Payne) and Saga Anderson (an alternate version of her) all are featured in a movie that can be watched at the beginning of Quantum Break. You can view the video being played in game here-> ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bgM5lHlacg ) This video is visible at the campus protest in one of the booths with a sign posted underneath stating "Expose the LIES! Find the TRUTH!" Here's a version of just the video here ->
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaDNGoVKfDw )
2. Here's just a short video with several other links to Alan Wake that I can easily skip over since this video points them out. Including things like Alan Wake's books visible throughout the game as well as people playing the game Alan Wake itself while mentioning the "Children of the Elder God" which I believe ties into Control, but I won't get into that here. Here's the video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSRAd7M7qHo )
3. I wanted to make this a separate but very IMPORTANT point here even though it's featured in the video above: Alan Wake's whiteboard. You can see the board in the video above but I'll link the exact time jump for ease here ->
https://youtu.be/PSRAd7M7qHo?si=TmxoHQyKjpUkKdaN&t=74
It's been too many years but I'm fairly certain that in the original Alan Wake he mentions how he taught a class (or visited one as a guest I can barely remember) at a university. We can assume these notes are written by Alan Wake himself, but even if you didn't believe that it would have to be someone writing it with extensive knowledge of Alan's journey as the info dump in this is absurdly accurate to Alan Wake's story. Here's just a few highlights of things mentioned on the board:
*Endless Night
*1.) Departure
*2.) Initiation
*3.) Return
*"It's not a lake, it's an ocean."
*THE SPIRAL (visible on the far right side of the board)
*Thomas Zane - Poet
*Mr. Scratch
*Old Scratch -> The Devil
*Cauldron Lake (found twice on the board in different context)
*AWE which has both "Alan Wake Experience?" and "Altered World Events?" prominently listed here. Might I point out that this is the first instance of the abbreviation AWE as this game came out many years before Control.
*This House of Dreams*
*The face drawing on the board is replicated and changed in Alan Wake 2 on...
*Jack Joyce (Tim(e) Breaker)'s white board in Alan Wake 2 replicates this setup and gets closer to Alan's white board the further into Alan Wake 2 you get. Alan even jokes about how he has a "crazy wall" as well... which means we can assume everything written in Quantum Break was indeed written by Alan Wake himself.

To be honest... all of what I just typed should be enough proof that Quantum Break is directly tied to the Alan Wake events as it is. But these are all just surface deep. The more interesting ones are the ones you have to read into. Let's get into the...
(SPOILERS!!! SERIOUSLY JUST PLAY QUANTUM BREAK)
The most interesting aspects of what Quantum Break tackles in it's story is that of alternate dimensions, alternate worlds, and strange beings that live BETWEEN them. But before we can discuss that we must first have a firm understanding of what the overall story of Quantum Break tells you as a whole with all the pieces put together. Here's a breakdown of the important bits.
*Time is ending. It cannot be stopped, and when it does stop no one will even be aware that it has stopped.
*There are beings that can live outside of time. They can travel from dimension to dimension and alternate timelines. Some of these beings will attack anything that is "alive" in a dimension in which time has stopped.
*The only people that can travel both around, outside, and through time are beings that have been altered by (or possible born with or in)"chronon radiation".
*"Chronon Radiation" is when your body is exposed to chronon particles which, simply put is the particles you interact with when traveling through time.
*"Chronon Particles" (and therefor "Chronon Radiation") can be found in nature.
*Humans that experience Chronon Radiation will eventually over time cease to exist in the dimension/world they originally were exposed in as their Chronon Radiation alters the body and mind until they begin experiencing life through multiple timelines/existences and they become a "Shifter". Dr. Kim is the first Shifter we see and you can see some snippets of him "shifting" through timelines here ->
( https://youtu.be/3ZTU9wDCKH8?si=6OfSkwa00qnniwQq&t=829 )
*When Shifters first experience their powers they experience every range of emotion at once but the one that is acted upon most often is rage and they kill/destroy anything that bothers them during their understanding of what is happening to them. In time Shifters will learn to control their powers and exist in multiple dimensions/timelines at once.
*Once a Shifter has full control over their powers they can not only change their own bodies, but they can shift and change the reality/dimension around them.
*In order for a Shifter to be killed, they must be killed in every timeline/dimension they exist in. So in a sense... they are immortal.
*The most important information we have about Shifters comes from the man, the master himself...
*Martin Hatch (Warlin Door) is a Shifter. More importantly, he's a Shifter that experienced Chronon Radiation naturally after entering a cave. Quantum Break is, in a way, Martin Hatch (Warlin Door)'s origin story... or at the least the closest thing to an origin story we have so far and gives us the clearest understanding of his plans in the Alan Wake universe. Martin Hatch writes a note to Jack Joyce about his mission that I'll post in it's entirety here:
"I have left this message here for you to find, so that soon, when the time comes, and I ask you to choose, you can do so with your eyes open and with some hint of understanding. I have no secrets, and the only things I choose to omit are the ones that you, in your current limited state, would not be able to grasp no matter how hard I tried to make you understand.
I have walked down the same path you are now on. Once - from your perspective, a long time ago, although time no longer has such meaning to me - I too came in contact with a time machine. In my case, it was not a manmade device, but a natural one, in a cave. It should come as no surprise, really, that such things exist, much like natural nuclear reactors do exist, such as the now defunct ones at Oklo, Africa. After all, the Meyer-Joyce field has its irregularities. I too became chronon active. I too developed Chronon Syndrome. And in time, I too lost control and became a shifter, became at once everything and nothing, was everywhere and nowhere, died countless deaths and was still alive, my every probability, every possibility happening at once.
I promised I would not lie, and thus I tell you: the noise and the pain and the rage were more than anyone could suffer and not go insane. I burned in this fire a long time. There were brief moments of awareness in this endless nightmare - different versions of certain key moments in my life that I found myself reliving again and again. Trying to make things right. Like a puzzle. On and on and on.
I am convinced that the stutters and the End of Time saved me. For those were the only places, the only times, where I could even briefly stop and rest and slowly find focus and control again, and ultimately master this state - not emerge from it, not be cured, not go back to what I was before, for there is no such thing, but to learn to be in one place and everywhere at once. My perception is altered, like that of someone who has seen a perceptual illusion, and discovered that the picture is both a young girl and an old woman at the same time. Once you see them both, you can never not see them. We are such limited beings, we play with just one piece, on just one square on an endless chessboard, just one life, one timeline, in an infinite multiverse of possibilities. Am I an exception? The only one who has found his way to the other side? Or is this just a shifter's brief dream before a stutter collapses?
There are other shifters. You. Your best friend who is now your mortal enemy. Dr. Kim. Others, some of whom you know. It doesn't matter who, because they are gone, and when they emerge, if they ever emerge, they will not be who they were, just as I am not who I was before. I have done my part in helping you all achieve this state.
If time is an ocean with a frozen surface, then the stutters and the End of Time are holes in that ice. Opportunities to come up for air.
I have a plan. It's already in motion. But it would be futile to try to explain it to you, like trying to explain three dimensions to someone who can only see one. But make no mistake; I do not look down on you. I strive for humility even as I shift this world from one state to another. I will make this possible. I stand in between. I don't see myself as a gate. I remain humble. I'm something smaller. A hatch. "
*Martin Hatch wishes to help people become shifters as he states "I have done my part in helping you all (fellow chronon radiated beings) achieve this state. This is also shown in game when he kills Dr. Kim thereby freeing him from the collapsing timeline of Quantum Break -> ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwDFwfjMlbw&t=553s )
Now let's look at what we see in
Alan Wake 2
Let me make what I believe is an obvious statement.
*Alan Wake is a Shifter.
Or at the very least, he's becoming one... which is the reason Martin Hatch (Warlin Door) is trying to help him. I think this is explicitly stated in Alan Wake 2 as on the Herald of Darkness chapter Alan literally has to stand in a section that is marked "Shifter" on the floor multiple times and use his lamp to "shift" reality to progress through the stage. You can see "shifter" written on the ground in the first 5 seconds of this clip here -> ( https://youtu.be/CsmCoI5QJ3k?si=5llBkwiFTyKvr6uZ&t=544 )
When a Shifter is Shifting through dimensions they have this sort of jerky movement as seen in the Dr. Kim clips above but you can also see Paul Serene shifting here in this clip ->
https://youtu.be/c-T-pxRpY3I?si=QVaKF-_kX3YamTRH&t=159
and you can see a similar reaction during the death scenes in Alan Wake 2 as Alan shifts ->
https://youtu.be/hNCo7GK-Ids?si=-N5iZ0eU5O6yqCgE&t=12
I'll also point out the rage present in the death scene as we all know how much shifters experience that.
This entire scene in Alan Wake 2 makes the most sense when you view it as Martin Hatch getting angry that Alan Wake hasn't fully embraced his powers while also admitting that the next time Alan Wake meets Door, it will be in Door's realm/world and not Alan's. Therefor Alan will have to "play his part". This is the most 4th wall breaking event in Alan Wake 2 because not only does Door admit he's helping him but he points out that the person that's playing Alan Wake 2 (remember the original Alan Wake was shown as a game people were playing in Quantum Break) are also helping him. ->
( https://youtu.be/l51GDgbMieE?si=7RCS9plN5PHMl1cV&t=26 )
Let's look at another Alan Wake 2 and Quantum Break connection in a Manuscript Page in Alan Wake 2 ->
( https://youtu.be/fonx7Uza384?si=tor8MhTjOGNmno3d&t=2621 )
"...He allowed it, this one time. To be passed on by his unwilling disciple (Jack Joyce/Tim Breaker)". This is indisputable as this page is literally handed to Saga Anderson BY JACK JOYCE (Tim Breaker).
*Jack Joyce (Tim Breaker) is Martin Hatch (Warlin Door)'s disciple. We see this at the end of Quantum Break as Jack Joyce has attains the power of premonition to see the multiple timelines and is offered to join Martin Hatch. He likely didn't want to do it (unwilling disciple) because he still wanted to save the dimension he came from.
Also Tim Breaker pretty much ties the games together in his own words here ->
( https://youtu.be/FeRbuEyFY30?si=XGneYKc61oevc6cD&t=270 )
And finally (for now) Tim Breaker's whiteboard has a ton of notes connecting the two games on including these notes: (I've added notes in parentheses)
*Polyhedron (This is the Countermeasure from Quantum Break)
*Missing time (no 5hit huh?)
*Door transported me here, to this dream-reality.
*The Red Headed Woman (Beth Wilder/Jesse Faden)
-I know her. Where do I know her from? (Quantum Break)
-Her identity changes versions?
-Connected to polyhedrons? (This is the Countermeasure from Quantum Break and how Beth/Jesse swapped dimensions)
-She will come for me. (This one almost makes me tear up and the reunion I really want to see)
*Me but not me
*Others I know yet they are different (there's an arrow pointing to "The Red Headed Woman")... (Beth Wilder/Jesse Faden)
*Dreams of different versions
-Parallel Universes?
-Multiverse?
*We are connected because of something that happened to us somewhere else. (LITERALLY THE STORY OF QUANTUM BREAK)
-Shock waves echo across worlds? (QUANTUM BREAK)
*If I die will I wake up as another version? (Yes, because you're becoming a shifter.)
-Is he (Door) killing versions of me?
You can see a snapshot of the whiteboard here ->
https://youtu.be/FeRbuEyFY30?si=eqkjFu4ONLvisues&t=372
This post has already gotten lengthy so I'm going to stop there. I could go on, but as I said... the connections are VAST. I'll leave you with these reminders from Quantum Break:
"This world you know? This world is ending. But one world's end is merely another's beginning. My world will be a renewal. My world will see balance." -Martin Hatch (Warlin Door)
Oh and when Jack Joyce (Tim Breaker) and Beth Wilder (Jesse Faden) finally reunite I'd have the biggest cringiest smile ever if they found a way to slip in Toto. Because when you know you know:
https://youtu.be/FTQbiNvZqaY?si=P83osx8JXXkIlTKK&t=62
"It's going to take a lot to drag me away from you. There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do... gonna take some time to do the things we never had..."
Because Jack and Beth never had time I tell ya...

Door is just alternate Hatch.
It connected in my head pretty quickly as it fits the "rules" set by the RCU

Door being present in Alan Wake is definitely what causes the origins of Saga to change without a doubt. I'm unsure if it's because of Alan and not Door though.
In Quantum Break Door states...
"I strive for humility even as I shift this world from one state to another. I will make this possible. I stand in between."
We also know that in Alan Wake's own script that contains Door, it reads that he'll "allow it this one time" as if he also shares power to shift reality in similar ways.
Given that we know Door wants to change things and his goal (from QB) seems to be to help others achieve their powers to change and shift reality (albeit in a very "means justify the ends" kind of way), it wouldn't surprise me if it was in fact his idea to pass on his powers to his progeny.
Either way, I look forward to seeing more of him. The new actor is doing a great job of picking up where Hatch left off.
