I've never played Quantum Break. Can someone explain what that means?
I'm a total nooby :steambored:

So that's why the game is 68GB big? The cut scenes are high quality? Blu-Ray 1080p? Or even at 60FPS?

No
They just don't know how to compress, It's for xboner after all you have to cut them some slack

Windows 10 Version doesn't support downloading cutscenes for offline playback……
Steam version and the collector's version (5 DVD game discs) also seems no support for downloading cutscenes…… The only solution is xbox.

The game features some very high quality art and sound assets.
And really, 60gigs is not that surprising these days. DOOM is over 60 gigs in size. Recent Call of Duty games have been over 50, pushing over 60.

And several other releases are in the same realm, to even larger when it comes to complete install size.
Chances are, Quantum Break will be smaller in download size but once it's fully installed it'll be 68 gig. Similar to how DX:Mankind Divided was only 22 gigs to download, but installed is 49.
Or how the BioShock Remaster was 11 gigs download, bu 22 gigs installed.

And Remedy have already said, the live action TV show episodes are stream only for PC.
Sadly, this is a decision that comes down to Microsoft. As they are the ones hosting the episodes.
Not sure why MS refuse to allow PC users to download the episodes... which sucks. As, their service for streaming is not great. It works, and the episodes are watchable. But, you don't get the best quality while watching.

the xbox one did but not the Win 10 version.

the win 10 version only allows streaming of the episodes: you can't download them.

that's because all the eps are 1080p30 at 20-30 minutes each. plus there's 2 versions of the same episode depending on which path you choose in the game - so it's not so much about compression but there's a lot of episodes.

it totals to about maybe 10 episodes and that's enough to fit onto 2 BDs at 75gb on the xbox one.

This may sound like a really simple idea but why can't someone just record the streamed episodes then upload them for people to download then watch afterwards.

All cutscene movies are already there in Youtube. It's a shame Microsoft is not letting users to download the videos on PC.

Ah I didn't know that as I never brought the Windows 10 version. I'd just heard that Windows 10 did allow that.

It is. I'm hoping that at some point we will be able to download them.

That's not really a solution; since the videos would have undergone additional compression by being uploaded to/transcoded by YouTube, picture and audio quality will have taken a hit.

Plus, even if you did download the YouTube videos, how would you incorporate those into the game?

can you change the resolution of the live action scene? What if my internet cant handle streaming at that resolution and bit rate?

It's really a shame you can't download these scenes on Steam. I'd watch them just for fun, they're good quality and it's an interesting plot
