FIXES: Game crashes on startup (updated 11.10.16)
We've received few reports of the game crashing when launching or just after the first cinematic. The QA team has been trying to reproduce the crashes in a test environment with similar hardware specs described in the DXDIAGs you've sent us. So far the bug hasn't manifested itself on our end, even with ultra / high / max resolution display settings.

While testing, the team did find out that if you receive the following crash notification mentioning "Fault Module Name: d3d_x64_f.dll", the issue is most likely caused by outdated display drivers. (Example of the notification: https://i.imgur.com/GTX2BPa.png)

How to fix the startup crash
  1. Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements (i.e. Intel Core i5-4460, 2.70GHz or AMD FX-6300, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R7 260x) listed on the game's store page.
  2. Install the latest display drivers. AMD Radeon here[support.amd.com] and NVIDIA GeForce here[www.geforce.com].
  3. Install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015[www.microsoft.com]. The game checks this and installs it only during the first startup, so make sure you have the correct version installed.

I did all this and still not running. I try contacting micrsoft support, they won´t help me. I do not know what else to do. I feel like I´ve been scammed

I am also having a problem with the game myself. Bought it last week and since then it never started.Tried installing/uninstalling it a couple times and even downloaded the latest driver for the GTX 970. Nothing happened so a friend helped out by going into the files.Said it was missing file "api-ms-win-crt-runtime-lt-1-0-dll".He ended up getting that file and putting it in there. After doing that I tried booting it up through the files and I get error message "Application was unable to start correctly 0xc000007b". I seriously have no idea what's going on
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAVE NO IDEA FOR THIS .driver are newest Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 is on the system. why why why :(

thats not quite a game bug, its a user bug)).
in my case i had the same symptoms - the game launched for a second, exited and steam showed status "syncronization".
when i launched the game manually by clicking "QuantumBreak\dx11\QuantumBreak.exe", it crashed with error "blah blah api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll not found blah blah".
i tried to download and install new version of vc_redist, but it never finished, it just freezed on about 99% of complete.
then i tried luck with installing KB2999226, and it also did not install, it showed something like "looking for updates..." and it did not change.
eventually the issue was fixed when i recognized that i have not turned my pc off for a long period, just used "suspend" instead of "power off" and there may have been (and they were!) pending windows updates.
i let my pc turn off and install all of pending updates, and it took a lot of time!. then i ran vc_redist, this time it was successful, and the game launched!
i have i7-3770k, 16Gb RAM, GeForce 1070, windows 7 sp1

I figure out that issue ! just open your quantum break.exe from that location Program Files
\Steam\steamapps\common\QuantumBreak\dx11
I already tried what you guys are saying there but it's nonsene, the game dosen't work on Win8.1 and the support didn't even reply me to the call stack crash.
i have the same issue and i deleted all Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio and just install the latest one (that fix the crashing for me)

I did the same but no change at all. Still not starting...
i7-7700K / 16gb / GTX1080 / Win10
Hey guys, does anybody has frame drops in the cinematics, in the game, the program runs pretty smooth, over 60, but when a cinematic comes, i got frame drops 20 fps, so, any idea of what's going on?
My specs:


Windows 10 pro x64
AMD FX BLACK EDITION 8350 4.2 OV 5
RAM HYPER X FURY 1600MHZ 16GB

It seems the game wont run....... I find it amazing I can run everything from Nvidia Shadowplay to Fallout 4 on high but the moment I play a game ported from the windows store, it refuses and gives errors or just refuses to launch...... This is just sad on all accounts.... I cannot find a fix so I will get a refund and make sure to let people know to avoid this developer in the future. They are not dependable enough clearly.

GIVE US OPTIONS FOR DE-ACTIVATING:

1. Motion Blur
2. Chromatic Aberration
3. Depth of Field

AND of course give the resolution from the graphic-driver FREE - I wanne play in 5120x1620!

Hi LauriRMD, any progress from your side? None of the suggested tricks above worked. Uninstall C++, uninstall game, reinstall C++ 2015, reinstall game.... not starting at all. At this point why not giving us the equivalent Microsoft store key to play the game? If not working on Steam, despite we pay for it, could we get the game on a platform where it works?!
