This game is still broken af
Heavy stutter like my pc has 2 gb of ram when you enter a new area, load a cutscene or kill a striker. Borderline unplayable bc of that on my new 3070, game used to work fine with my old 1080 card.
Tried everything I read could help such as: moving the game from nvme disk to ssd, setting custom page file, reducing settings, selecting borderless window mode, reducing resolution, turning off vsync ingame and activating fast sync with nvidia inspector, turning on upscaling, nothing works.
What a broken piece of trash this game still is, even 5 years after release, such a shame.

Edit: seems like someone had the same problem with this game back in the release year 2016, albeit with the Windows Store version for some reason: https://steamcommunity.com/app/474960/discussions/0/361798516965327953/

what resolution you playing at?
if 4k then enable up scaling.
Did you try to verify game files?

for me runs fine on HDD.

I bought the remedy games on sale since they are xbox exclusive at the time, oh boy what crappy game designs, alan wake and this. story seems fine, but game play sucks due to design issues.

Alan wake doesn't have the stupid ass checkpoint system like Quantum break.

I hope Control is better overall. I might have to use trainer to play thru this garbage I paid. PS exclusives are so much better.

Console games checkpoint are garbage by design, but this game wins the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ title.
couldn't agree more.

It does stutter when you enter a new area, trigger a cutscene or kill a striker in all resolutions, with upscaling on or off. After a while it stops but having 20 second of heavy stutter each time a new area emerges is unplayable to me. I did try to verify game files, reinstalled the game, nothing works.
Maybe it's nvidia's driver regression, idk but it sucks.

Now that you said it.
I have notice it too.
Frame shutters and drops after cutscene switching to gameplay.
Maybe because cutscenes are locked to 30fps. Going to higher fps causes frames shutters.

But for me those shutters are no more than 3 seconds.

Yeah it takes the game a while to switch from 30fps lock back to your usual framerate after cutscenes. But what I have is definitely more than that. Game stutters almost 30 seconds for me in that scene in act 3 where you try to get to the soiree and enter the large area with chrono powers suppressor.

The cutscenes have issues when you're running above 30fps. The game runs okay for me during actual gameplay, but the "slick" transitions where it goes into a cutscene just looks awful. Like, it's 30fps, but with microstutters.

Just a bad port. I run at 1080 with everything ultra and up-scaling off. With up-scaling on it just looks blurry.

The game crashes for me toward the end of the final boss fight. I literally can't finish the game and have just decided to move on. I have a 3080.

Control is more than worth it though, runs great, amazingly good gameplay etc. Hugely enjoyable.

Likewise, I've managed to get through the game without a single issue but now at the end boss the game crashes to desktop preventing me completing the game.

Was this issue ever fixed, as this thread is three years old?

I never had a crash when there was an episode I think, but by far the worst was at the final boss fight. I can't even remember how many attempts it took in order complete the game - But it was enough that after I had beaten the game I uninstalled it out of frustration. :steamfacepalm:

I replayed Quantum Break a few months back. I'll be playing it again soon (99% and I'd like to get 100%) but last I played I had no crashes and no issues. Hope you guys figure it out because this is my favorite game from Remedy (yes even more than Alan Wake/Control) and I think the story is so dense in this one it makes it highly replayable especially if you enjoy the challenge of playing it on the hardest difficulty on future playthroughs.
