No cutscenes? Refund!

Fortunately I discovered that the cut-scene videos are not working within the 2 hour window. I was able to request a refund, but what a HUGE rip-off to keep selling this game when a massive part of the game is no longer working! I'm speechless...

Just installed and played for a while and the cut scenes worked fine.

Yeah I found it particulary odd that people claim this over and over... As I played earlier this year and they also worked fine then.

I looked into it, and apparently it has something to do with the cutscenes not being physically downloaded with the game on PC, and are actually streamed from Remedys servers instead. Not really sure why they would do that, since you can run into all sorts of problems and it wasn't like that on the Xbone. Also saw people claiming that they only stream properly through Microsoft Edge, or Internet Explorer or whatever, but no real evidence to back that up. I just wanted to play this on PC since playing it on the Xbone was pretty bad framerate wise, but don't feel like jumping through hoops etc is worth it.

I never had an issue with this game. And I never use edge or internet explorer either. Used chrome since ever. The game doesnt use your browser. It streams directly into the game engine as far as I know. If you get into problems it may be firewalls blocking the game from accessing internet.

If it doesnt work check your connections. I played the game not long ago earlier this year with no problems whats so ever. And I dont have the best of speeds personally (10mbit/s down and 2 up). And despite that the streams worked flawlessly for me with HD graphics. It almost made me think it was stored within the game until I had one short buffering that one time.

I finished the game only about 1 1/2 weeks ago and had no issues with the cutscenes...

No idea what the browser is supposed to have to do with it, the cutscenes play ingame, not in the browser, after all. I suppose there might have been a temporary (?) connection issue for the OP.

Yea, like I said, I looked into it. Didn't test it myself. That was just the info I could dig up on other forums on Steam and elsewhere. Seems like it's one of those works flawlessly for some people, but is a disaster for others type thing that happens sometimes. Either way I'm balls deep in The Witcher 1 right now, so I can't be bothered to install 70gbs worth of a game just to check one thing.

They're an additional 75.61GB on XBone[www.microsoft.com], so the game would be ~145GB with them.

Cutscenes work fine for me... but then I have 50mbps internet so I always watch them at 1080p.
there's still a bit of 720p buffering on the beggining though, but that mostly is due to the bad Microsoft servers that aren't exactly prepared for this kind of thing.

I would suggest trying to play act 1 in less than 2 hours on your first playthrough, so if the cutscene doesn't work you can just call for a refund.

Or simply watch it on youtube. The game has a total of about 5 choices so there isn't much variation here.
