That being said, there are plans to streamline the designer further, as well as to introduce alternative control schemes.
As for the ammo - most of the weapons are ammo based, and when they run out they need to get restocked. There are currently no ammo box modules due to balancing issues. That might change in the future.

Really: for newcomer its frustrating.
Hunting for small red circle is annoying.
Not figured why some details removed by ESC button, some by DEL button.
hitting ENTER also not very good idea. i spent more time to move fingers over keyboard than designing first unit
Cant remove modules from hotbar (or not figured how to do that)
cant rotate already connected parts (or not figured how to do that). figured, but after detaching and rotating cant connect part back. (experienced this with adapter triangle part) It stays too low or to high to opposite attachment point.
Simple drag&drop with right hand on mouse while left hand controls camera and rotates parts is much more user friendly
also: need ESC button hotkey for game menu. (game lacks hotkeys).
Not found "active pause" button (game will be stopped but you can still give orders to units)
repair pad needs waypoint (like in factory)
also "3rd dimension" for building pad is confusing. why not just remove vertical line
wheeled units is too fast

The least recent used module gets automatically pushed out when the limit is reached.
Default Pause hotkey is P. Escape key has many implicit uses and cannot be used for specific actions. There are plans to add more hotkeys in the future.
