I made a guide for this game to make a comprehensive search for all cards and their effects, but I'm running out of steam to make it. I'm going to info dump it here so maybe someone else can pick up the project.

There's a lot of uncompiled stuff here and some of it may have been copied in from other sources that I have forgotten about.

Reigns: Card Guide

Preface

My handle is AudioElf. I’m a game designer and published game music composer. This is my first attempt at a game guide for a variably complex game with limited walkthrough resources. I pulled information from multiple sources as well as personal experience. Some of it may be wrong, including grammar, names, variables, triggers and event resource values revealed by the clarity status. If you have information this guide lacks, leave comments (screenshots for proof would be ideal) and I will updoot it. * symbol indicates I may have got the information wrong. If someone would like to take this guide over because they can index better, You are welcome to do so.

To reach the 100-year mark, players have to have a deep understanding of the game, which will likely require a guide such as this. However, before you read this guide, I STRONGLY recommend running through the 2000 year span of the game timeline once. It will give you a feel for what to expect in the game, limit spoilers/objectives you need to chase, and make this guide easier to navigate.

Due to the deeply modular and granular design of this game, this guide is organized in attempt to create a comprehensive, searchable index of the cards, rather than a typical walkthrough. If you need to find out how to activate a specific card, copy-paste that card into the text search/find (ctrl-f or ⌘f) function and it may show you the trigger in another card reference. If there is no matching text, assume the event is random and doesn’t have triggers. Additionally, I use shorthand to annotate a lot of my guides, which are usually explained in the section headings.

Status Effects
You can have up to four status effects at one time. If you gain more, (not sure what happens, needs update).

Black Death
The plague is decimating your population. It’s a bleak time to be a citizen of the Kingdom.
This causes -⚇ every second.
Blue Mushroom
You feel suddenly very happy. The strange things start to happen…
This has no effect other than making the character portraits look like rabbits.
Clarity
From now on, you will know more precisely how your decisions affect the Kingdom. Is it a gift or a malediction?
Shows your exact resource value and sometimes shows how a decision will affect them numerically.
Colonies
The New World is adding to the treasury and the army every year but will you be able to manage such an empire?
Causes + ♖$ every second.
Crusader
The slaughter of infidels is a lucrative way to decrease your population each year.
Causes +$ -⚇ every second. This a difficult status to manage, so gaining the providence status first would be wise.
-Diabolus
Time is gone, space is insane. Here it comes, here again. You feel your mouth closing down as if you never had one.
This is in effect when the devil appears.
Death Wish
The next character you say ‘Yes’ to will die.
This does not seems to do much other than change the name of the character that dies.
Enter the Pungeon
There’s no way back and in your absence, the Kingdom ineluctably falls into anarchy.
This opens and restricts you to specific The Dungeon encounter cards only, where you can access important aspect of the game such as The Skeleton and Excalibur status. It also drains all four resources over time, which kills you if all four are reduced to 0. Killing skeletons gives you back resources and can unlock dueling abilities (even if you die), so it typically wise to pick a fight with them.
-Excalibur
The sword of kings is yours. In duels you will be more steady and you will be able to trigger special moves without defending first.
If you have Excalibur, you’ll have an easier time winning at duels. It’s still possible to lose, but it gives you an upper hand. See how to find Excalibur here.
Mount Care
The hospital will limit the consequence of epidemics and catastrophes.
Prevents a single death from zero ⚇, restoring 40 upon death.
-Providence
The barn was expensive but it’s good protection to avoid famine and the people’s unrest.

The central bank protects you from bankruptcy. You just have to create more money when you need it. Genius!

Cathedral
It prevents the Church from being too weak and the people too powerful.

High Walls
The fortifications are an excellent way to repel invaders. Useful when your army is weak.

Slaver
The slave trade gives you access to an infinite amount of cash. But what about your soul?

Loaded Dice
You will never lose again at the Red Dwarf.
I haven’t found a drawback for this status. It’s a great way to rack up free $ if you start a gambling session the The Jester, as well as guaranteeing he pulls you out of some game-ending situations.
-Lover
You won’t be able to say ‘no’ to your paramour. The Church disapproves, but it mesmerizes your people.
Your lover locks ⚇, protecting it from changes. -✞ every second. You lose this if your lover dies (Confirm?). You lover can be
-Old Age
You won’t be able to hear or understand properly. Scared, you try very hard to hide your ailment from the court.
Causes some words on your card to be gibberish. This can make your life hard if you are not familiar with the game or don’t have a handy-dandy guide!
Silk Road
The spice trade adds to the treasure every year. You have more chance of angering your neighbors though.
Causes +$ every second. May encounter special silk road event cards.
Theocracy
You won’t be able to say ‘no’ to the Church anymore. That said, they’re taking care of the money.
Locks $, protecting it from changes. The church consist of the monk, priest, and prophet. You should make every effort to undermine religion through alternative means while this is up.
-The One
It’s probably the last strawberry plant on Earth. You keep it under heavy protection.

This achievement is buggy and it prone to failing in spite of having the right cards, which may prevent you from finishing the deck. Get it together, developers.

How to Trick the Devil, Get the Survivor Objective, Break the Curse and Get the Good Ending:
First, you need to unmask the Senator. If someone asks if you trust him, say yes. He might also tell you that something terrible has happened and he needs you to follow him. I don’t think this part is absolutely necessary to trick the devil, but it does tell you how. It’s also only possible if you’ve met The Lady already.
You’ll then get kidnapped by the Senator and blindfolded. Run and follow the voice (avoid the water) until you find The Lady (she’ll have a different name each game, but will look like the photo below). She becomes your love interest and then three years later forces you to listen to her. She then reveals herself as the Senator (you get the Doomed objective for unmasking the Senator). She then explains that you need to make the devil fulfill an impossible task. Something that cannot happen no matter how hard he tries.

Excalibur
Have the Royal Dog lead you to the Fortune Teller via Wof! Grrrr… ([Royal Dog] brings you to a lonely caravan in the marketplace) [unsure if you need to access the Fortune Teller this way to access the sword dialogue option]. The Fortune Teller then has a chance of offering information on the sword via Don’t tell me! I see…, and then Bright and shiny. Forged from earth with fire, water and acid. [Unsure if you are required to encounter this card first before unlocking Excalibur in The Dungeon.]
Upon reaching The Dungeon via [Status: The Pungeon], look for the Gold door, which will sometimes contain The Torch. Take it, then find the Earth Door, then the Fire Door, Water Door, Acid Door, the Sword Door in that order, then lastly open the chest.
