Navigating the Pungeon
Hey everyone,

I must first say I'm really enjoying figuring out all the puzzles in this game; it's such a simple concept executed so well. That said, I find there are very little guides online that help understand the puzzles when the solution isn't very obvious. The only guide I've ever found is from App Unwrapper linked here:

http://www.appunwrapper.com/2016/08/12/reigns-walkthrough-guide-how-to-trick-the-devil/

As useful as this guide is (when you get past the site causing browsers to freeze up all the time), it's very incomplete, especially when it comes to navigating "the Pungeon". (Which, by the way, I find to be a missed opportunity to utilize pun riddles, unless it's a reference to the wit of the skeletons?)

After finding my way out of the dungeon several times now, and tricking the Devil once, I might as well offer my tips and steps to navigate around these dark corridors. [Possible spoilers ahead. I won't block anything out because it's not a very definite spoiler]

First of all, the dungeon seems to be generated pseudo-randomly. That is, there is a random element to it, but there are general rules or heuristics that generally lay out where the doors lead to. This means two things: on the one hand, you can eventually navigate your way through if you are persistent and careful enough, but on the other hand, you'll never have the same path twice. Basically the same algorithm is used when you are kidnapped while "unmasking the Senator". The rules I've identified are laid out here:

1) When you first arrive in the Dungeon, do not go through any doors marked Arsenic or Mercury. This should be intuitive. When you see arsenic or mercury in real life, do not touch it. They are poisonous. If you go through either of these doors in the game, you'll either get lost in the dungeon forever or fall in a death trap.

2) Stick to Gold and Neutral doors. These will eventually lead you to chests. Chests contain one of three things: a key, a torch, or a potion. The key is your ticket out. The torch can help you find Kloc. The portion, I have no idea. I drink it every time I find it, but haven't noticed any effects [turns away and vomits]

3) If you come across a closed door, that's the exit. If you don't have a key, just turn around. Kicking only results in a sore foot. If you have the key, you have two options: unlocking the door will allow you to escape, and return to the castle unscathed. However, if you are in the business of looking for Kloc, you can just turn around and keep wandering. Going for more Gold doors will find more chests, and you will eventually find the torch.

4) After you obtain the torch, and if you are looking for Kloc, there are three kinds of doors you want to look for: Acid, Arsenic, and Fire (yes, this time you want to go for arsenic. I guess the torch allows you to see the traps better and avoid them?). They may not necessarily come in that order. When you see a broken wall, break through it. Then the doors come in a specific order: Fire, Arsenic, Acid, then the wall opposite Gold, the the wall opposite the Pentagram, then the Pentagram ("the Devil's Door"). Then you run into Kloc.

5) If you are going after Excalibur, you have to do a very similar method. After you break through a wall, the doors you go after go in this order: Earth, Fire, Water, Acid, then a strange symbol ("the Sword Door"). You'll find a chest, but this time it contains a cool sword. Whoo.

6) If you are in the dungeon for too long, (not a time limit, I believe a certain amount of doors?) your reign ends with you virtually trapped in the dungeon forever.

7) As you are probably aware, all four stats continue to decrease while you remain in the Pungeon, as the kingdom falls to anarchy in your absence. However, every time you kill a skeleton, you get a boost in all four stats. In addition, when you leave the dungeon (either with the key or by Kloc) you also get a boost in stats that allow you to keep playing.

This is actually quite handy. Sometimes, when a stat goes to 0 and an angry mob is trying to kill you, you have the option to hide out in the dungeon for a while. If you are then able to make your way back out using the above rules, you can return to the castle and continue ruling, essentially cheating death. I've been able to extend my reign 20 years with that trick.

Anyway, I hope that proves useful for you in your questing :)

Not really, at least I actually found exit and needed to switch to my chrome, I thought the game is paused but it wasn't - so when I returned there were 0 on all 4 lines and after exiting I received +30 to each. And I also got lost in the dungeon and got game over when I actually had some stats and just randomly picked tons of doors trying to find klok. So I think this is really linked to the number of doors you open - and you were unlucky to run out of these "doors" on the last one.

Also about the potion from the chest - it gives you a small boost to one of characteristics (people I believe)
