About the siege camps / wolf camps.
Hi, newbie here.

Just curious about the siege camps and wolf camps mostly... and that how big of an army do I need to destroy a wolf camp or a siege-camp attack.

Firstly, at the moment I'm just a some 4day old player and was thinking that if a siege camp spawned on my doorsteps, how big of an army and castle would I need to defend from it? At the moment I'm at lowly rank 11 and with NO castle defence whatsoever but heading up steadily. ...please don't ruin my game and attack me... :P <3 Do I need an army of 200 longbow men and 50 pikemen with a perfectly built castle to fend off attack of a siegecamp or are just some wooden walls and wooden platforms with some 10 archers going to fend them off?

And another question about the wolf camps, How big of an army do I need to clear out the smallest of the small wolf camps? bowmen / pikemen / Ehrmed peasants?

And lastly about the siege camps / players attacking me... How big of a damage will they do to me if (when) they get through.

Thank you. :3

I attack the wolf camps with two soldiers for every wolf, 2 archers for every pikeman.

The siege camp attacks will start small and get tougher as you gain higher ranks. If they break through, they will start by stealing a small amount of supplies and get more expensive later on. They can also destroy buildings in your village.

To defend my castle:

First, I circle my keep with three thick stone walls. Then a few towers so the archers can reach farther out. Then I build a wooden palisade around the outer perimiter. Then I dig a moat around the outer perimiter. Then I build a stone wall around the outer perimiter.

Changes are expensive so you might want to plan the whole castle out in advance.

Good luck.

Thank you for the answer :) the thing about the wolf lair was most useful. :)

But about the siege camps, got any info about those... mostly that how much I need defense with a rank 11-12. Should I even try or just let em rampage me for few days if they appear? :>

Thanks! :)

You should always try to keep your castle as strong as possible. Its not junst siege camps that can tear down your castle. Someone else might notice you are easy prey and start attacking you. Build up your defences as best you can!

you want to get more than wooden walls as soon as possible. stone is always the best option for a beginner. wooden walls don't last long, when you progress to smaller stone towers make sure your archers are on them. the die fast on the ground.

the tip about wolf camps was good, 2:1 archers to pike, pikemen always in front of the archers.

lastly, the seige camps can't be attacked, you just have to endure their attacks as best you can. but get stone walls asap.

On the wolf
When you have limited troops and your troops production not maxed, always scout first the target. Fox can appear in 300-400 packs or more. You need to throw entire army to kill them. Send entire army if you don scout. An army of 400 can defeat any number of fox.
Create a standard doogie hunting formation: 50 pikes and 50 archers, and large formation of 100 pikes and 100 archers. Then you could send your troops faster and easier. You could easily add more when facing larger wolfpack. Divide equally on north west and south west so that hopefully one wing may reach the den if the other is get stucked. Make it wide, 3 or 4 line depth, since mostly the troops get killed when flanked by werewolfs.

On the AI:
There are 2 defense strategy: open and closed.
In open strategy, you let the AI in, get a hole in your wall. When the wall is wide open, AI wont scratch a wall.

People use this in peace county, so that they dont have to be bothered with repairing and re arranging the troops. In early time, a new player then can focus in developing other things. Still need tunneler and sally forth to eliminate AI catapult, should they bring one.

Closed strategy must be developed from early on. Build lots of guard houses, temporary towers and walls, and station all your archers there. For this strategy, by level 11 you should have at least 200 troops capacity and something like 100 archers. And you should keep building great towers and guard houses non stop once you get the research. In this strategy, you'll develop many important tech like theology later, so you need to be covered by a monker player. But when your done you'll have a good 500 army ready to strike.

If you cant gather so much troops, you can always look for LL who wants to station troops in your castle. With these vassal troops you'll be able to fend off AI attacks. When offered LL, ask them whether they could in time provide you with couple hundred of archers. What you need is build as many guard houses as you could.

I useually use a strategy, when building castle, that makes it easy to defend in the beginning and then easy to build on further:
1. I make a stone wall nearest the keep, a wooden palisade around it and then stone walls.
2. I make the shape of it like a circle so that when the enemy come its hard to any part of the castle (piggie dosen't even get to the walls when pillaging)
3. When the village is opperative and got more stone I build towers as far away as I can build so that I can place smaller towers between when the tower wall is finnished.
4. I build balistaes and turrets and I place guard houses so that I can place more men.
