How pay to win is this game really?

I recently picked up a starter pack for this game in a Humble Bundle and straight away the concept of this game really interested me but I was also put off by the number of people saying that it is pay to win. But on the contrary I have also seen arguements that this game isn't completely pay to win and that it's possible to still enjoy the game as a non p2w player if you are good at diplomacy.

So I would like to get some opinions from you guys who have experience with this game.

Is it totally pay to win?
Can i still have fun without having to spend lots of money?
Are there any alternatives to this game that are not pay to win?

they dont know what pay 2 win is
this is a pay 2 grow game
you can pay to grow faster or you can stick as free to grow
also i reccomend you to NOT join a house as that will guarantee conflict
join a faction less flag i say
sure it aint a house but you get all the benifits plus you wont get raped for being in a house

It isnt totally pay to win but it gives huge adventages

Yes you can you just have to hope nobody randomely attacks you nobody hasnt yet to attack me except AI attacks almost everyday

Well you can do every single thing for free it just takes longer giving some money will boost things up some reviews are saying that some things are locked behind a paywall that isnt true everyhting can be researched for free

in other words you can beat a player who spends lots of money on cards

Thanks for the reply, yeah I don't plan to be a hardcore player anyway, just expanding to another town or two will satisfy me. I have indeed decided to remain Houseless, at least until I grow strong enough to defend myself. I just have to cross my fingers and hope that some whale with more cards than brains doesn't decide to destroy me just because he can! :P

Thanks for that code, I just went to My account > redeem offer and it worked! What do you mean by make two minimum payments to get up to 14 cards a week? Do you mean 2 payments every week or just two payments and it unlocks some sort of benefit?

Thanks for that code, I just went to My account > redeem offer and it worked! What do you mean by make two minimum payments to get up to 14 cards a week? Do you mean 2 payments every week or just two payments and it unlocks some sort of benefit?

There's a level called a "Kingdom Level." All it does really, is make it so you get free cards. My kingdom level is 8, so I get 8 cards each week. Meet the requirements (one of the requirements is to make 1 payment, and then a 2nd payment) to get more cards per week.

(The place to check your kingdom level should be at the top left of your screen)

Ah yes I see it, I guess I'll go ahead and make a donation since I've enjoyed the game quite a bit so far. With a +50% flash sale currently on-going this must be fate lol.

I think the phrase "PTW" is coming from the liberal crowd, you see they upset too many people by attacking directly by saying things about violance, (although rarely true). so instead they are throwing this "PTW" phrase to try to destroy the video gaming industry, if only a little. right now, it seems like the FTP games are causing a internet civil war.
