Camera unlock runaway, literal class abilities still busted, quick moves still not having any real drawbacks, and so much more. Such a shame because this game tried something different for it's combat mechanics and even had many advanced tricks (step cancelling, gold cancelling, feint step cancelling stance swap, etc. etc. etc.) So much depth and potential just tossed into the garbage.

So true, this game's PVP is a unbalanced mess, and im really sad that there are people fanboy'ing for this game.

I really liked the concept of Absolver but i'm not really into pvp. The game has an amazing fight building system and all but me and my friends ultimately left the game because it barely had any content and the pvp modes were basic anyways and as others pointed out it had balancing issues and I did not enjoy my pvp sessions hence not really into it.

Eventually a studio has to move on to something else. To me Sifu their upcoming game seems more like what I wanted and i see this as a positive thing because they getting a new revenue stream and down the line they could potentially make absolver 2 which could both expand and improve on this concept and giving us all a better game in general.

Basically i want a decent single player centred absolver with an optional pvp mode for those who want it not the other way around.

Yes, you see players all the time in the tiny map this game has? And the matchmaking?
But how many of them are unique players? Is it the 50 same players the "all the time"? The same 100 players?
Dead enough that the devs didn't see it financially viable to stick around, so please don't fool yourself.

Well, obviously it wasn't financially viable. But critisizing the developer and saying that they somehow have done something wrong by not continue the support is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. They made the game, they supported it for a while, it's perfectly playable, they moved on to new things. They are no way in the wrong.
I like how you avoid addressing the point of the comment that you quote (which is that the game is dead) just for another opportunity to shill for the devs. Whatever rocks your boat, mate.

I never claimed that the game is super-active (I still maintain that it's far from dead), my point is that it's absolutely by no fault of the developers. They did everything they could with the resources they had.

And I think it's hilarious that you blame the devs and claim that they have somehow done something wrong when everyone (except you) can see that they clearly haven't, so, you know, I guess that rocks your boat.

Imma have to stop you right there, devs could have done ALOT by just changing a few values for the frame data (the animations wouldn't even need much tweaking at all if any) And part of the reason the game is dead is because the devs knowingly left the game in the state that it is. Alot of Devs do this nowadays, they put in new stuff in free updates or powercreep DLC to break part of the old system or they make something overpowered so much that it kills the metagame so that people will leave the game and pickup the next title. Fighting games have been doing this for years. So yes, the devs are partly to blame for the downfall (pun intended) of this game. The community itself has done alot of damage as well (doxxing between high level players) To say that the devs have had no part to play is lunacy.

Yeah I get that...

I just got peeved to see SIFU be exclusive to consoles and isn't being sold for pc release...Perhaps they can make that available down the line so they can have more money in their pockets? And yeah it'd be great if they had a better absolver to work with later on. I get that this was mostly a project they worked on until they were ready for a real game. SIFU looks pretty damn great but I just wish they broadened their compatibility spectrum for other devices...

I love how the entire point of absolver is to fight for nothing...and that every character is basically "broken" emotionally, physically, and willfully... At least that showed us exactly what was to come of this game, this "mess."

That "slo CLAP" they put in the game was limited edition and gave people the advantage over everyone...

Just, it was a fun ride...But it coulda been longer and less aggrevating. It could've been great but it came to a halt and then a loop when people would make a new save file just to relive the feeling. We still didn't get the staff weapon at all and yes that pisses me off a tad that one weapon wasn't introduced.

Just...dude please just make SIFU pc reliable. I'm on a budget but like I'll buy it...if it were on pc...

Another point I would like to add about pvp games in general and why I developed a distaste for them. Just Get good. Well when I tried getting into the absolver pvp scene i literally lost 30+ matches in a row, and this simply was not fun. Some finite things work most don't and i didn't figure out what did what didn't. A game with single player focus would have retained people longer. In PvP there are winners and losers and the losers eventually leave. this leaves the winners to fight each other and so on. So with PvP being unbalanced and no substance in the story and AI world i suppose this game quickly died, and the devs moved on.

Maybe the mandela effect is glitchin' out my reality again... I have weird memories of ♥♥♥♥ that doesn't happen and things just kind of go wrong with my information. Oh well.

Stopping development for a failed release game is the smart thing to do, did you really expect them to continue working on a game with 200 daily players for the rest of their life? that's just stupid.
Owlusory Mar 24, 2021 @ 2:52pm
True..But then they made money to buy equipment and make another game. Honestly, if you don't have a source of income you can't make a game better or make a better game for people to enjoy. I can understand it and I can feel disappointed all at once that Absolver didn't make its debut...but I'm surprised to see they are evolving their quality and creating another game with better mechanic and single player action with almost the exact same art style.

So a single player Story driven game with absolver style combat sounds awesome to me. I will definatly buy it.
to be fair, pve is where absolver is fun. pvp combat is all "quick spam."
