(srry about my english, is a bit rusty, i'm not from a english speaking country )
"They stopped supporting the game, so let's give them more money. Maybe then they will notice us again".
Nah, screw that. There are a lot of games out there where the developers actually care about their game that deserve the support.
Exactly. Those games that deserve support are the games that feed the families of the devs. If Absolver failed to make money it is not worth to support anymore.
Why don't you go to work and tell your boss. You know what, my job is it worth to be done so from now on i will work for free.
Someone who gets it.
It's not my job to make it work; that's their job.
If they fail and abandon it, then why do they deserve my support?
There are other developers out there that put work in their game to make it work, and as long as they keep working on their game they deserve the support.
It's not charity.
That's not how it works. If a developer notices that the game is not selling enough to be able to support the company, they have to abandon it and start working on something new that does support them. If Absolver was selling enough to support them financially I can guarantee you that they would not have abandoned it.
Oh, wow.
"If the game was making them money, they wouldn't have abandoned it!"
Who knew, right?
Now, let's get back to topic: they abandoned the game. I don't care what their reasons for it is, in the end of the day they abandoned it and left it to rot.
So why should they get any more of my "support" at this point?
Those that DESERVE supporting is those that support their own games, even if they aren't the most profitable in the industry. It is their job to make it a success, or find someone that can.
Further communication with you would just get me banned.
Keep shilling for companies that forget the product that they sold you.
I don't think slowclap forgot absolver, hell chances are many or at least some of the devs are heartbroken that the game didn't sell enough. Was it the right call for them to abandon the game? I dunno, dont know their situation. Maybe they were running out of money and it would have taken too many resources to get the game in such a state that it did well, maybe they intend to return to absolver once they have a better idea of what they are doing. Maybe they'll abandon it for all time calling it a lost cause.
We cant live life off of maybes though.
So in that sense, i agree with you. It is foolhardy to support a company in the hopes that they just might return to a failed project. But that dont mean Slowclap dont deserve support. they've shown themselves capable of delivering on some of the best fighting game mechanics that I've ever seen, and i for one look forward to seeing where they go from here. And if they return to Absolver then all the better.
All that said, is it right to call a fan a shill just because they want to see their favored company do well?
How exactly did they abandon the game? As far as i know it was finished.
There are good movies out there that didn't sucess at the box office. So they never made a sequel. Am i supposed to call the first movie an abandoned cash grab now? What kind of stupid logic is that.
Absolver is a good game that didn't succed. So it is the only logical solution to keep going with a new project.
Is that so hard to understand? Some people should realy stop to think every Dev is a moneyhungry Bastard. Absolver was never destined to make a ton of money. The Devs could had gone with a stupid handy game. Much much easier to do with a lot more money to make. But they made a high quality Melee combat online game.
How in the holiest of ♥♥♥♥♥ do you expect them to support a game without money? You do realize that supporting any game costs massive amounts, right? Are they just supposed to keep supporting it on a massive lost continually until the company goes extinct? You're pretty much asking them to go down with a sinking ship with your analogy.
And as someone right above me pointed out they actually finished the game, it is done. It's not broken, it runs perfectly well and does everything it's meant to do. The only thing they are not doing is releasing new content for it.
Well in a way they are a money driven company, in so far as all companies are driven by money. As im sure you know noone works for free and even those who are passionate about their work need money for food. Does that mean i think they are greedy? No.
And is it really finished if there is so much more that can be done with it? I suppose everyone's definition of abandoned is different. For me a game is abandoned when the devs stop working on it before it reaches the height of its potential. Maybe thats a silly view, but hey feel free to argue and tell me why im stupid. I'd like to hear why you think its finished.
