Is there ever gonna be a bo staff?
It's in all the promos and artwork. Even the initial loading screen has an absolver holding one.

This is a hard one. We'd actually started prototyping bo staff, but it turned out to be much more complex than other weapons (notably because it is a two handed weapon). Not only would it be a huge effort on production side, but it also would be a balancing nightmare to add a new weapon with lots of new moves. So at this stage it's very unlikely that Bo Staffs will find their way in the game.

I must apologize for this, because it's my mistake honestly: I decide to leave images of the Staff in the reveal trailer ("team black") and in the loading concept art, although at the time we weren't sure we would be able to implement it. But it looked so cool, and I really wanted to believe we would be able to achieve it, so I decided to go for it, creating lots of expectations and disappointment with players... sorry about that.

That's a quote from the creative director in a recent Q&A on /r/Absolver.

Hey Prince <TH>,

Our Creative Director answered this question in the Q&A on reddit recently so I'm going to copy/paste his response.

Perhaps there could be a unique enemy with a staff or pole arm that players cant get or learn moves from, but acts more as a randome boss dropping gear that cant be found anywhere else?

Or they could keep kick moves but limit the number of punches. Otherwise you would have to animate the player holding the staff in one hand for moves like fast punch and, god forbid this stays in the game in its current state until such a time that they may release a bo staff update, parry strike.

Even if it was super limited with most moves only available in one quadrant, I'd still love to see a bo staff as a weapon. Even if no one used it because it was weird or bad it'd be cool to see lost prospects pick up a long branch now and then in a fight

That kind of goes against the main idea of the current gameplay, which is that any move the NPCs can do you can do too.

Maybe they can start creating those NPCs as a prototype, throw them in the game and then move on making it playable for the rest of us, that would be nice.

Though the reply is that basically they can't right now and it's not in the plans unless something great happens. You can always hope that something great happens!
