Sharp impact spell plus quick jab combos make the game easy for little dumb wit in pvp
i mean 20 sec of quick undodgeable cutting jabs is just too much to handle for me its lot more pressure than pulling out a sword. for only 2 crystals it can shred ur life bar even if u block. i m not the raging type but there is just no way it can stay like this. make it cost more and/or reduce active time and/or reduce the cut damage it add. something aint right about that

"Undodgeable"

Well, you're already wrong. Just because your opponent is running sharp impact, doesn't mean that you suddenly can't parry, absorb, avoid, dodge, use evasive attacks, etc. Sharp impact is only very good if the opponent has low cut resistance and/or they're blocking super often.

All I know is that, well, it's in the game, so it's totally legit. I don't blame any one for using it wisely and getting wins because of it. "All is fair in War blahblah..."

The power is not that much OP, considering the many options you have to counter it.

To be honsest, I don't know if it's a pure conversion (100% blunt to cut dmg) or a partial one, or if it's just additional cut dmg.

However, I don't know what was their intent when they've added this power. I'd really like to know. (Because it looks a bit odd, from a game-design perspective. Maybe it's just me...)

Was it because "Unbreakable" auto-break weapon property needed a kind of counter ?
Was it because "Steal Weapon" needed a counter ?
Was it to force people into equiping heavier, cut-resistant gear, on a more regular basis ?
Was it because a lot of people are fine with spamming EQ like no tomorrow but do 'no-no' emote as soon as you summon a weapon, so let's just discourage people from using weapons ?
Was it because "let's add another power for the sake of adding another power" ?

I already explained my opinion on "Sharp Impact" in another thread about "Unbreakable", I will just rephrase it here :

I find it useless against people who can't figure out my deck fast enough, because it would only make the fight shorter.
I find it useless against people who can figure out my deck pretty quick, because they would easily nullify my attacks with their style ability, evasive moves or good old spacing and waiting.

Most people I met ,running with "Shard Impact", almost never ever rematch. Guess why? Because the more the opponent is aware of your deck, the less profitable "Shard Impact" becomes for you to use it... A lot of people already never rematched unless they thought they had host-advantage ping-wise, now it's getting worse.

Sharp Impact is:

2 shards for 20 seconds of all unarmed attacks inflicting high cut damage.

Unlike a weapon, you have a fixed time limit.
Unlike a weapon, you can't turn it off before it breaks and get shards back.
Unlike a weapon, you don't get a cut reduction bonus that negates up to 100% of incoming cut protection.
Unlike a weapon, you keep your unarmed deck.
Unlike a weapon, taking hits won't disarm you and make you lose the buff.

If someone is running Sharp Impact, just staying back out of reach for most of the duration negates most of its effect. If you've got a half-decent read on their deck, it doesn't give them any real advantage because you still know what moves they're going to be using. If you have high cut protection it'll severely mitigate things. If you have gloves or a sword, you can ignore a majority of the damage even before factoring in the reduction from whatever armour you're wearing. At 1 you get to block 100% of damage as if they didn't use the power at all. Not many weapons are below 0.7 reduction and that means only 30% of cut damage actually makes it past your guard in the first place.

you could buy a weapon with 1.0 cut resist to hide behind, like the spirit gloves. Gotta get to CT 50 before you can buy all the weapons easily, which is a bit of a hassle.

also, cutting jabs were already possible with the hook blade gloves, although admittedly those aren't pure cut. But they do have a high cut rating.

(what's scary about sharp impact relative to those is that afaik even your kicks become bladed?)

i have a lot of hour into the game but im a slow learner. half the people i face destroy me and i don't complain cause they just play better. but when u can just abuse fast hitting moves on a opponent that can't seems to react it just doesn't feel fair to me. We don't need those kind of player to have more damage than what they already have.
Plus i don't want to run around 20 sec to wait for the spell to end when the guy can be more than half the time under the spell
the weapons to block damage is actually a good thing i hav'nt thought at the moment but if i fail to counter him without sword or gloves they won't do much more than just being armor for their duration. And they cost more shard than sharp impact.
anyways i wrote the post after a fight i had where i got stupidly beaten by a dumb spammer ♥♥♥♥ and i didn't like it.

It's ALL unarmed attacks, yes.

And they cost more shard than sharp impact.

1. Hand Spirit gloves have 100% cut reduction and only 2 shard cost.
2. If your equipped weapon is still around when Sharp impact wears off, put it away and regain some of its cost.
