Ability to change combat deck while in the lobby
This is a good ideia, It gives more diversity to the game, and would be more hard to read the enemy, and if the new deck that you created is awful then you can change it to your main deck.
Please consider this.

Thanks for taking the time to share! The ability to change decks between matches sounds like an interesting idea. Learning to read your opponent is a key element of gameplay. Removing it would be a stupid plan, imo.

I think it's a cool idea *MAYBE* for a new mode - but that would divide the playerbase and wouldn't be viable with the current playercounts.

I don't think it would be stupid, and yes challenging, would bring more fun to the game, would make it harder.

It would massively change how the game is played. It wouldn't be the same game.

Emphasis "between matches" (not between rounds).
I think it keeps rematches fresh, in a way.

Between matches is *STILL* core part of the gameplay loop and integral to how gameplay works.

If you want a deck change, use gloves or sword to have a second deck to fight with.

Not necessarily so. Currently, it isn't possible to change decks while rematching (You have to exit CT, select a different deck, and requeue). This isn't a problem in private 1v1, but sometimes you want such possibility when fighting a random player you meet on CT.

Yes, there is necessarily a reason to not allow you to change deck without relogging. Rematching a player is another chance to work on figuring out their playstyle. You can build a deck with separate sequences so you can mix things up between rematches or pull a weapon to change up your style that way. Knowing that you're going to be facing the same deck again on a rematch is another chance to figure it out.

That's a key part of why the game works. It's integral to gameplay, and is a positive factor. Having the option to change it in private matches would be nice. Having it as a separate mode if the game gets more new players and can afford to expand more might also be good, but with 3v3 being severely depopulated recently it's probably not the best idea to add another new game mode like that. At least not yet.

Point taken. This why I put "sometimes". There are several edge cases where such feature might be desirable, although mostly the current system works fine.
You know, like when you find a one-trick-pony spamming fast attacks but latency and host advantage makes it difficult for you to punish them properly and you wish you could just meme them by spamming harder using your charge-only deck ^_^
obliviondoll Jan 8, 2018 @ 5:39am
Which is why you bring a deck with a charging attack loop to punish that kind of player, or a glove/sword deck with such a loop as the core focus of the deck. Or alternatively, stop expecting it to be a good idea to rematch people with laggy BS happening and just move on to the next match (and point out to the devs that matchmaking isn't working right).

This gets brought up a lot. The way I see it, the only way it could ever work is if the opponent (or all other players in the case of 3v3) are notified that the player switched his deck. If it's going to be implemented, people shouldn't be able to do it under the radar, but if everyone understands someone changed their deck going into the next match, I think it would be fine.
