What server do South African players play on?
SA has a fairly active gaming community. For the larger competitive titles, we get our own servers, but for games that don't specifically cater to us, we tend to play on EU servers with ~200 ping. It's not ideal, especially not in a fighting game like this, but one takes what one can get for the sake of being able to play the game. If the connection and its latency are at least consistent, it's still possible to get used to it, and just work around having slower reactions.

Last night, however, the ping I experienced when other players entered my world was far higher than 200, and even NPCs were teleporting around. Completely overwhelms any nuance to the combat.

So what server are we playing on? I'm not sure if there is an option to check, but whatever server it was dropped before I could find out.

Cheers

Servers dead bro (for now), and afaik the game has a soft region lock. If you're SA and the SA server is on and with players, you'll be put there.

First off, the servers currently have serious issues. This may be a factor.

Also, there's evidence that the game runs using a weird hybrid system that routes player-hosted data in an indirect loop between players via the server, instead of direct. This can produce the appearance of significantly higher ping than the real ping from you to the server. I don't know if this is the case or not, but it's been mentioned as a suspected reason for many issues. In particular, on the Asia servers, at a time when there were a lot of active players in Korea (server location), I connected to players local to the server and got quite smooth play experience from New Zealand. When connecting to a friend in Australia, the lag was game-breaking to the point that I'm pretty sure it would be best measured in seconds instead of milliseconds.

Lastly, there are currently 4 server regions:

NA
EU (probably yours)
Asia
Oceanic

Hope this helps.

Great, that explains a lot, thanks.
