Now why did you make a thread about something you have no problem with ?
Just had one too. Was well good, dude knew how to absorb better than I could parry.
I actually use a fairly simple style using moves that can more or less be unlocked in the first area you discover. Consists mostly of kicks, with the first combat set being three jumping kicks. Love the kicks that have you tilt at a right angle, with the leg straight out.
Mobility is 18, normal. As always, fashion trumps function.
These guys rely too heavy on the stagger style. Once you learn their pattern for the first three hits, they crumble. Yet to fight a stagger user that can parry or dodge worth a damn.
Probably because they don't have Windfall's avoid or Forsaken's parry abilities.
You can dodge normally, but their style special is about offense, and gives them better mixup potential. Most players I've seen suck at using it, but it can be used well to keep pressure on the enemy.
Most people using actual stagger attacks are using the pre-built deck. It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you are losing to stagger players you might suck. Espcially since the dodge eats stamina like crazy.
It's when the guy can give my parries a run for the money, that gets me hard.
Are you playing Forsaken? If not, then you parry by NOPE, or by joining a Forsaken school, equipping the style, then using the style special. Below has more info on how to use each style special:

When you're trying to parry, block. It doesn't matter what stance the guy's in, but what matters is where the fist or leg is going to land; on your right or left. There's no point parrying to behind-left or behind-right, doesn't have any use except leaving you open to get hit. You only need to parry left or right.
How you do it, is you move the right analog stick digionally when you're about to get hit. Best to do it when blocking, so you don't soak up damage.
