Dodge or Move the Camera, Pick One (PC - M&K)
I cannot begin to express how frustrating the mouse and keyboard controls are. Especially on the levels meant to "throw off balance" close quarters. If the camera automatically directs you into a corner, you need to move the camera around so you can see. But if you have attracted multiple enemies your character just contanstly dodges left, right, up, down because the camera and dodge mechanics (dex class) are all on the mouse.

Literally the only issue I have with the game. I really hope somethign can be implemented for M&KB users because this keybinding/control scheme is enraging enough to not play the game anymore. Does the dex character really need mouse directional dodging and spacebar dodging?
Maybe a keybind option to press ( a button) so you can move the camera without using the ability and then release said button while in fights? If anyone has come up with anything that is using M&KB please share because good lord it is more enraging than M&KB for DS1.

It sucks with all classes and it's super dumb. It could sort of be fixed on a Steam Controller if they implemented the SCAPI, but they haven't. I have no idea how they're going to address this, there's no easy way to have your character potentially do their special defense in four unique directions.

This is no different wiht he controller, right stick controls both of these as well. It's really not an issue once you get a handle on positioning, while it is frustrating at times I think they handled the controls the best way they could considering.

If you are fighting, you are locked onto someone, so you don't need camera controls, the camera follows that person. Instead oyu have to be careful of your surroundings to keep from backing yourself into a corner and losing sight. It's not as big a deal as it seems, and it works really well once you get used to it.

Positioning doesn't fix the camera issue, unless by positioning you mean "stay away from things the camera will clip into."

fighting the camera should not be an aspect of the game... just saying.

this is humiliatingly bad implementation for pc controls. For PC, just stick with the free camera ALWAYS. The directed ability can be mapped to another button like alt, used similarly to the dodge button. E.g. in witcher 3 you fluently control the character alternating between parry, dodge and side step. But screwed up camera controls like this locked camera BS ruins everything. The rest of the implementation for controls is fine.

Please stop talking for everyone, I understand alot of k/m want to change thier stance keys and not have to use mouse to use school ability.
But alot of us like it how it is. Infact its legit. THE ONLY reason i am playing with k/m.
Because i prefer the parry and absorb and even stagger on my mouse compeard to a joystick.

I once heard tale of a grand, wonderous thing. An options menu! Now you don't have to yell at people to quit discussing what they want out of the game for fear of change, for you can keep the crappy default option while everyone else uses something more sane.

And telling people to stop discussing something that actually really ruins their experience of a game is also non-productive. This should be a relatively simple issue to fix with the controls, and if it helps a lot of PC players to enjoy the game, then it should, and hopefully will be fixed.

Or you could use a $10 xbox 360 controller, the wired ones are plug and play and far more suited for fighting games than a keyboard/mouse could ever be.

I feel most of my issues with the active defense system would be solved if they added the option to use a modifier key to dodge in the direction of the mouse movement (and making the detection very sensitive, unlike now where even at max sensitivity, if you don't move the mouse fast enough, you will not trigger the active defense)

That's a myth, you know.

No, that still leaves the camera, and since the mouse ability is also camera relative, at least the evade is, you still have reliance on camera orientation. Not to mention that the locked camera causes tons of issues making it unnecessarily hard to fight in tight spaces and against groups.

Free camera
Modifier+wasd for ability

That's what should be fixed.

atleast someone said it.

it could be a really easy thing to fix for M&K. Just a button to press/hold down when you would want to use the dodge ability or move the camera. Most people have a mouse with thumb/side buttons. It would be really easy to have a key binding to just hold down when you would want the camera active only or the dodge ability/abilities active only.

Since fights are prolonged you cant fix the issue by just "positioning" and certain moves/actions do have effects on the camera's positioning.

Really love the game but as SakariFoxx said above, it is frustrating having to fight the mouse while playing the game. Hopefully they will give us an option like mentioned in this post or come up with a fix for mouse and keyboard users because people are not going to buy a controller for one game.
