The tactical combat isn´t bad. just repetitive to the extreme.
And no ability to loot weapons or anything... even if you do the secondary mission.
Makes the strategy layer even more stupid. so you have a base. but nothing to build.
The no save option during combat. and missclick or miss position cause of the map issues.
Makes a fast game over or restart again.
Especially on difficulty 3 missions and more.
Soldiers dont´even create attachment. and customisation options is NONE.
Nothing that was told during design concept came true.
Other then a procedure generated world map.
Good point the price is cheap. and if you are bored you can buy it.
I won´t refund. but this is definetly a game on my wishlist, I should have taken off.
Once I saw the concept change.
I would say go stellar tactics. atleast that DEV takes feedback and knows how to create a AP turnbased tactical game.and has a procedure generated universe and maps.
One day I might play this game from start to finish.
But every combat feels like a chore and drag with no reward. so a grind that isn´t rewarding at all.
Duely noted. It is on "sale" right now and i will
still probably get it as i collect X-com/ufo clones
as well. Who knows, i may even play it.
NOTE: at 17:99 USD it is still too expensive for
just a collectable.. Ha ha.
It is cheap. so not a big lost of money.
But what I am more dissapointed about. was that this game could have been so much more.
Sadly it probaly end up unsupported.
All it needed was attachement and loot, the no in combat save. is just pure frustration.
So the DEV was more bussy playing balance stop the exploit of his game, then designing a fun or good game.
Sorry hardwest for example no combat save made sense. cause it wasn´t that RNG dependant.
Here a lot of missclick and your soldier stands in the open cause of the way the 3D model world is designed. with lag if you go top down.
A missclick happens very often cause of difference in height of terrain.
Also the enemy AI atleast in normal tend to just walk into overwatch and stand in the open.
So basically if people want a overwatch game. this is it. creep crawl and overwatch.
Sadly this goes on "the list" until it is really cheap. I like the
style of play and the open world concept is attractive to me
but... I dont have 18 bucks to wast on a mediocre game right
now.
and those 0.2h review ♥♥♥♥♥ ...inform yourself before buying... problem solved
Thx mate, I allways do. Not my first rodeo, Know what i mean.
[EDIT]
There's also UFO: Alien Invasion, free:
https://ufoai.org/wiki/News
Not sure how good this is as I'd forgotten about and years ago it wasn't so hot(very bad AI).
Also NOTE those UFO games tended to be buggier as you go from the first to the last(the ones by 'altar'), and the first one IMO wasn't really very xcomlike, but the series became more xcomlike as it progressed but also buggier.
I still think that xenonauts is best of the oldschool xcomalikes v. the new fangled 'xcom's whose combat I don't enjoy nearly as much as the originals.
