Burn the witches!
Down with the system!
I can accept them choosing to translate it as meep, but in that case keep it at least consistent.
meep meep
Just a question; how would you spell "meep" in Japanese to begin with?
As far as I knew, the only closing consonant they have is "n", with "su" occaisionally pronounced as only an S.

- The god emperor on the topic of "mii" vs. "meep", WH40K
But it's not the case, she clearly says "mii".
I was wondering if MangaGamer by translation Rika's Catchphrase as Meep, if they broke a reference in Umineko.
In episode Episode 2 of Umineko somebody says Rika's catchphrase, "Mii, Nipah".
Does this version of her catchphrase appears somewhere in the first 3 chapters of Higurashi or at least just "Mii"?
If I remember correctly "Nipah" should have been introduced in Chapter 3.
It would be a shame if MangaGamer broke part of the Higurashi reference
Edit: I just realized that this thread actually confirms there is at least on "Mii" in Chapter 3 of Higurashi. Is "Meep" still being used in Chapter 3 or has MangaGamer switched back to "Mii" for chapter 3?
Also a little bit interesting, there's no use of nipah at all in Episode 1.
There are a lot of 'nipah's in the script that aren't explicitly translated. Which is probably the right translation choice.
Does the new mangagamer Umineko translation translate it as 'mii, nipah?'
Also I think you misinterpreted the thread. Rika says 'mii' in the new mangagamer translations of Episodes 1-2, and she says 'meep' in Episode 3.
I just realized that your opening post was about that in Chapter 3 Rika suddenly starts saying Meep instead of Mii. I read it as that she said Meep in Chapter 1 and 2 they suddenly switched it to Meep in episode 3,
What a strange choice to suddenly change it.
In Umineko 'mii, nipah' is being said, but it is part of a series of Rika catchphrases. I don't remember if Rika ever used Mii and Nipah in succession, but I wouldn't be surprised if she did somewhere.
I'm more concerned about the Mii getting replaces with Meep. If MangaGamer did it with this chapter, I suspect we can expect it to happen with every successive chapter.
This is a translation, not a transliteration.
Indeed.
I hope they will also change the reference in Umineko.
It would be a shame to the see the reference slightly broken and inconsistent with Higurashi.
if knation12 reads this, would they give me their blessing to link to that patch on my group page?
