Condemned: Criminal Origins

Condemned: Criminal Origins

*** Low FPS and Missing sounds fixes!! ***
I hope both guides help people and for newcomers to Condemned: enjoy the game! Thanks goes to people who looked into these issues before me. I'm simply creating this thread so more people are helped and realize there is a fix (esp. the Missing Sounds issue).

Thanks. Haven't used this yet, but the game was running fine, I killed the first enemy, then It dropped to 6 fps...

You're very welcome. If anyone has any issues, let me know.
Recently added a 1.5 GB patch file to the Missing Sounds FIX guide (which is smaller than the 3.13 gb download).

Sounds great (no pun intended), but I'm having a bit of an issue with getting the missing sounds fix to work for me.

I followed all of the instructions in the missing sounds fix guide. Downloaded & extracted all the files into the game folder, then renamed the xdelta3-3.0.11-x86_64.exe to xdelta3.exe. But when I run the batch file, I receive this error: “Xdelta3: target window checksum mismatch: XD3_Invalid_Input”

Any thoughts on what could be causing this issue? Also just in case it matters, my OS is Windows 10 64 bit.

Haha.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Xdelta's new to me and I still haven't looked into it after it was suggested to me a day ago (so I wouldn't know what's wrong if you were following the readme and this happened). I've sent Naked Raiden a message (he's the guy that made the patch yesterday) and hopefully you won't have to wait too long or use the 3.13 GB download.

Naked Raiden tried it again and all I can tell you is: make sure you are following the readme instructions to the letter and try running the .bat file as admin..

It worked for him again so I'm not sure why it's not working on your end. If it still doesn't work, I recommend the 3.13 GB download and I'm sorry for wasting your time.

I've got another problem with missing sounds fix. After replacing the files in games directory i always die just after loading a save. Is this replacement file broken or something?

Do you actually mean your character dies? This patch is based off the original file so I don't understand why you've got that issue. Sorry you're having trouble though.

I'm testing the patch now for myself (might take an hour or 2 as I have to redownload the Steam .Arch00 files).

Where are you at? Maybe I could send you a save.

It looks like my character just falls through the level and "You are dead" screen appears.

If it's not too much trouble, how big is your CondemnedA.Arch00 file (found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Condemned Criminal Origins\Game\)?

My original retail file is 6.21 GB (6,679,167,735 bytes). If it's patched properly, it should be the same size.

File in archive i've downloaded is the same size. I'll try to make a clean save and see what happens.

Update:
It worked. I just had to make a new save after replacing that file and everything's cool.

Because the retail file I've got (and hopefully the patch) isn't broken and it's just confusing as to why that's happening. A few friends have used the retail file on their Steam copy with complete success. Your issue could be a random bug perhaps.

Patch works fine on my end too. I'm going to be adding a little bit of info. to the guide so it's more clear what to do with the patch (in case people don't look at the included readme file).

But yeah -- no problems on my end.

[EDIT]:

The guide's just received a major format change. It should be a lot easier to follow now.

Thanks, I got it to work by following the method A instructions. :)

Now, if I could only get EAX Advanced HD to work with my Realtek audio drivers.
