Channeled, Projectile, and Area spells
Just making sure I have some classifications right here:

Channeled;
- Beam spells
- Breath spells

Projectile;
- the 8 charge fire/ice/lightening/death bolt spells
- the 3 bolt 'chain death' spell

Area;
- All 'thrown over the head and splashdown' spells
- Electric triple wave spell?

------------

Does this sound right?

I think channeled is only Beam, as it has a bar, no charges. I guess Sprays too!

The Barrage skills I honestly have no clue if count as channeled, projectile or both. I'd assume it's not channeled since it has charges.

Projectiles would certainly be the fireball, bouncing heal,chain death,huge heallball, frost shard, death bolt, steal heal, Life and Death Curveball

Area is probably everything else.

Unless some can be included in more than a category, like Life and Death Curveball (area and projectile?)

Not another question along these: does Life and Death Curveball receive bonus damage from both Death and Life bonuses?

Bug report:

Huge Fireball is not counting as either a Projectile, NOR Area spell for the purposes of cornelius's talents; spellslinger and lead the field (3% projectile and 3% area spell dmg, per point, max 15%, respectively) -- neither of these talents are effecting the huge fireball spell.

I can report that lead the field is correctly working for the frost cloud spell (area spell)

Including tags for spells in their descriptions on the unlocks menu to indicate what spell type/types (and element/school) they count as would be very helpful, in cases like these.

Barrage is projectile, just confirmed. And no bonus from channeled bonus.

And indeed, the tags in the spell list would be awesome.

Err, sorry.. You confirmed it's a projectile but its NOT getting projectile bonuses? /confused?

Or are you saying that it's not getting bonuses from Area, Channeled, and projectile bonus talents.. but it SHOULD be considered a projectile one?

No bonus from channeled, I meant!

So it IS getting bonus from Projectile bonus talents then, yes?

The original post sounds about right!

Not 100% sure about this. The explosion doesn't but the projectiles probably do. So +healing for the heal projectile and +death for the death projectiles.

Yep, spells can be included in more than one category. For example, sprays are both channeled and AoE, and Huge Fireball is projectile and AoE, because of the huge splash damage, and the bullet spells are AoE, projectiles and throwable. Not going to list every single spell, but feel free to ask if there are any other confusing ones!

I couldn't reproduce this. Without any talents Huge Fireball deals 150 base damage, and with either Spellslinger or Lead the Field at max it deals 172 damage, and with both skills at max it deals 195 damage, for a total of +30% from the base damage. If my math is right, this should be correct. :D

I will forward this suggestion to design. :)

I swear to you I tested this with just the regen talents, and placing some points into cornelius's Spellslinger/lead the field.. and it wasn't working

but I tried again just now, and it is working.

Intermittent issue? I hope not :(

I'll check once more tomorrow (its 11pm here now) just to see...

I wonder if it's some kind of a weird issue of applying the points in a specific order or something. What kind of damage numbers do you get? What enemy are you using the spell on? :)

Well, best way to test skills is on tutorial level with 2 local players in, so I assume he's doing that. You can put points test damage with friendly fire, and reset again.

I was just firing it against a wall near the talent point reset device.

Maybe I derped and only tested projectile but not area? ... but if I did that, why would I have said the area talents weren't effecting it either? ... I shouldn't have been THAT tired.. it wasn't that late..

either way, it's obviously working as intended with the splash aoe talent effecting its damage... so... nvm then!
