Locked at 30fps on second monitor
This game locks at 30fps on my second display for some reason. Every other game functiones normally at 60hz and I have verified such in NVIDIA control panel and in my windows display settings. I have checked in game, I have tried in game FPS limit set to both 60, unlimited, 120, etc. Vsync on and off. I can set it to windowed, and it runs at 60fps on my primary display, then if I drag the window to my secondary it immediately jumps down to 30fps. Any help? Again, this is only this game. I have had no issues with any other programs or apps.

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with our game.

It looks like you already found the other thread which had the info about the Vsync and such. Unfortunately at this point no other solution comes to my mind. I will link this thread to my coworker to see if she has anything to add to this next week, can't make any promises though as we haven't gotten reports about these kind of issues before.

Sorry for the delay due to the Holidays.

No worries, appreciate the reply! The funny thing is I know i've played it in the past on this same system at 75FPS with no issue on the same monitor. Upon further testing, its locked at 30FPS for my entire system, not just that specific monitor. I also tested Trine 3 (Which I previously played with an unlocked framerate on this same system) and it is the same issue. It seems like potentially a driver issue in that regard. I can send DXDiag logs or anything else if needed. Thank you!

Try "nvidia inspector" if you're using an nvidia graphics card.

You can google this and get the app and several tutorial videos for limiting and unlocking the FPS.

Sorry for the long delay.

Unfortunately my coworker did not have idea what might be causing this (other than the ones that were already suggested). It is a bit weird that you have been previously able to play at 75FPS on the same system.

Do you have the latest updates in your drivers? Do you have only one graphics card or are you using SLI by any chance? You mentioned that all is now locked to 30 fps, even the windowed mode on your primary monitor?

Yes, I have the latest Dec 12 drivers for Nvidia, release 417.35. I have a GTX 1070 with an i7 7700. I have only one GPU and integrated graphics, but those are completely disabled. This game and Trine 3 both lock at 30fps, regardless of windowed/fulllscreen, Vsync on/off, and no matter which of my 3 monitors it is on it locks at 30.
(I originally thought it was only my third monitor (because I know I have played this game unlocked on this system, but on further testing it is all displays.)

No issues with any other program, and I have tried many out of paranoia. Trine 1 & 2 both run unlocked.

We thought about this some more and here is what might be happening here:

If vsync is turned on, a 59,9999 fps or something alike could just be rounded to 30. So, in theory the frame rate might just seem smaller. Even if you don’t have vsync on for the game, this might be occurring because of display or other drivers especially when opening the game in a window or windowed fullscreen.

This is not likely, but it’s possible your computer is also somehow still using the integrated graphics card for the game.

And finally here are the things to try next:
  • Please try launching the game in very low setting (especially AA) and set the refresh rate to manual. Remember to restart the game after setting them in Options → Visuals. Is the fps still locked?
  • Try using the monitor you’re having trouble with as the primary screen for a moment and launch the game on it. Please try both windowed and normal fullscreen. What happens then?

Sorry again that this is taking so long to check, but hopefully we'll ge more information now. Also the game does run normally on your primary screen?

Also let me know if you have any questions! :)

Have you tried disabling the other monitors using winkey+p and setting to "duplicate" pior to launching the game? To check if one monitor is already being a problem, or just them together, at least.

Got busy with some stuff, apologies. Thought I would retry it again today, and lo and behold, no issues with capped framerate. I've had no hardware changes since last time. May have been a drivers series issue that has since been remedied.

Strange, but I'm glad it works. Also just let us know if you'd need more help!
