No OFLC/PEGI/etc rating, how would folk family-rate it?
Though I gather that will come. In the meanwhile... is there content in here the devs would feel uncomfortable with for under 10s? (Nephews are 9 - 7 - 5)

Official rating is PEGI 12, same than Overwatch. There is violence that is directed towards characters that look like humans, this is why the PEGI is 12. Rating in most games directed to kids is 7 even though they can also be quite scary/violent, like Lego games and Ratchet and Clank. But as the violence is directed towards animals and Lego bricks they have a lower rating.

I asked opinion from parents of a 7 and 9 year old. They said that they don't consider this game to be that violent. But in the end it's a choice that every parent/adult will have to make for themselves. I really recommend checking out game play videos from YouTube before making the decision.

However I feel that this game might be too hard for kids that young. I'm quite sure that 9 year olds manage with adults, but not sure about younger players.

Let me know if you have any questions! :)

Honestly if you are ok with your kids watching Harry Potter this is pretty much even more ok for them. The dialogs are clearly for all publics and the action is never overly violent. Monsters disappear when they are defeated, there is no blood not even once. The most violent scene would probably be monster being shattered when they are defeated once frozen, and that's pretty much it.

It's way less violent than any cartoon kids watch anyway so.

All the answer I could have hoped for - that gives me excellent metrics for speaking to their parents with. (Not sure why Google didn't find the PEGI, but i'm actually glad it didn't considering how useful your extra info was ;))

Wow, this is just the game I was looking for. Great job on the no blood & gore. Recently got Magicka 2 and was quite bummed out due to the very graphic blood & gore on that game.

just keep in mind that the level of challenge this game poses becomes quite high, even on the lowest difficulty setting. as somebody has previously stated, around 9 years old seems accurate as the youngest age for a solo player on the easiest difficulty. but if you're planning on co-op then could easily go as young as 7. there's no blood, no gore, no swearing... really it's as family friendly as you can get, without the gameplay itself being completely dumbed down. it's very hard to find family friendly games that are still capable of posing any level of challenge.

The 5 year old hated it, the 7 and 9 y/o played it with me for some hours before they lost interest (kids' attention spans is a fickle thing :p) - still, fun while they were focused and then i enjoyed my own additional hours with it plenty :)
