How the heck do you use the flashlight?

It's apparently the only offensive item against the killers, and I think the tutorials and such said it can be used to stun the killers and make them drop survivors? I've gotten a few flashlights stocked up and tried to use them, but I don't have any idea how they work - I aim the flashlight at the killer when chased, go for the eyes, the torso - whatever I can hit with this really cruddy, small light but I've never done anything to the killer. Do I hold it on some part of their body? Click it on an off? I've never seen it work outside of the tutorial video.

Best bet is play the killer a few times to see how it works against u but u have to get it in his eyes. It took me a while to decide to play killer and it's a whole lot of fun if you sre having trouble taking that step.

The flashlight's true intentions are to be used when a fellow survivor is being carried to a hook and u shine in killers eyes to temporary blind him so he drops survivor. The killer can still whack u upside the noggin' if you're close enough so becareful, but yeah, aim for his eyes...
