Drain Soul is Overpowered
Drain Soul is 2 training points, and it makes it so that you basically have infinite vigor all the time. You'll never have to worry about vigor because there are so many enemies that you can just keep killing them to constantly regain vigor. You don't have to worry about stuff like Magic Acceleration at all with Drain Soul.

It seems a bit much for such a low tier mastery to basically remove the need for any vigor resource management. Even something like changing it to restoring half of your vigor would still make it extremely overpowered.

You could achieve the same with release magic i think the mastery is called (the one that gives you a buff that grants you vigor back based on stacks of the buff), plus that the mastery works really well together with magic optimization to even increase your damage at that. I think out of the box magic release gives at 10 stacks something like 30 vigor per turn which could easily give you infinite vigor as well. There are other combos/masteries that can achieve this as well. Though maybe not as rapidly as Drain soul does but still sufficient enough that i find Drain soul to be great until you can find other combos that can give other stuff along the way as well.

What would be your proposal to change Drain soul? As you think even giving back half your vigor would stil lbe too strong. Would 20% of your vigor be a better alternative?

Also something to consider: many of the character classes that can make use of Drain Soul or Release Magic either have no durability or have situational durability that heavily relies upon Vigor. Adding Vigor strain on top of the other management issues would make those classes sub-par compared to the other options.

I don't even bother with Drain Soul. The only time I'd even consider it useful is with Avalon so I can tank any hit forever.

None of my builds that I use right now use Drain Soul. Sometimes I'll run out of Vigor - usually with Giselle or Bianca doing 1S1K Catharsis builds, or Irene doing infinite turns.

Most of the time I don't have vigor problems, even when I'm not using Anne as a vigor battery.

Vigor management really isn't that important to be honest after you get to endgame and have builds that don't really need to bother with it.

Drain Soul is just taking an important Attack slot which could instead have Catharsis or 1S1K or Breakthrough or Giant Killer or any other ton of masteries for sets. It's fine where it is it is competing for extremely precious space.

If Vigor management is that important for you giving up an attack slot for it is more than enough or a sacrifice.
