Please report the awkward expressions and misspelling in the game!
Hello everyone.

If you find any wrong or awkward expressions and misspelling in the game, please let us know by replying to this thread.

It would be best if you could write down the text from the game,

but if you are unable to provide the text from past scenes, you could just describe it to us and we will try and find it ourselves.

We will try our best to make corrections and changes to the translations.

Thanks!

If this is still active I have some complaints about the German beta:

It's great that there is an ingame tool for reporting, but the translation is in such bad state that i have to report like every second sentence because of some stupid basic issues like thoughts still being wrapped in ' ' instead of () or missing completely.

A lot of UI text is too big, but can't be reported from the built in tool, I can't even report mistranslated names. Don is called "Geld" because it looks like 돈 can be a name or money.

Translation is also sometimes based on Korean and sometimes based on the English source and it's like always the wrong source. Putting the other source into DeepL than what the current translation is built on, the result is always better...

About German beta:

We used machine translation to provide German translation and we don't think that's it. Machine translation was a measure for native German gamers to ensure minimal access to games, and we are well aware that machine translation is not yet up to the level of professional translation.

One unfortunate thing is that in Korea, it is very difficult to find a translator who knows the game well while translating Korean into German. In addition, even if such a translator exists, we cannot leave the translation to them with our limited budget.

This is the development team's situation, and we are well aware that we cannot ask gamers to understand this. We just update German whenever we see any clear improvements.

The problems mentioned below will be fixed after the next update:
* The part that needs to be translated to Don is translated to Geld.
* The part that a pair of single quotation mark is omitted from the line representing the character's thoughts.
* The part that using Herr / Frau wrong when calling characters.
* Also some translations that gamer suggested will be included.

I'm sorry I didn't give you a great translation, but I'll never overlook the parts that gamers pointed out.

That's the thing I like with you guys, and one of the reasons why I always recommend this gamle when I can. It's not just one of the best games in the genre, putting X-Com to shame (and yes, I mean it), it's also a labour of love.

You guys do what you can with limited budget, you're clear about that, and you still work on improving things years later, when someone points something. If big studios had that kind of work ethics, the gaming industry as a whole probably wouldn't be in the sorry state it currently is.

This was done using machine translation so I hope it means what I wanted to convey : 여러분의 노고와 헌신에 감사드립니다

German has such complex nature, that it is immediately evident when it was machine translated, but there are multiple tools delivering different quality of machine translation. I'd never expected a great translation, especially because it is tagged beta. Even Civ 7 has UI issues when set to German, but if you translate all text from Korean to German with DeepL, the starter package for $8,74 should be enough to translate the two files, and the quality should increase significantly. Then switch the quotation marks for brackets, check if Don is translated correctly, and then implement the user translations on top. Every improvement that reduces the amount of time I have to open the ingame translation tool, is a good improvement. After that we'll should look into improving the UI elements, any idea where to find the drop down menu items for the settings and are there any graphics with text because I still see things not being translated?

DeepL was one of the ways we thought about it. Between translation-specific tools(DeepL) and AI leaders(Chat GPT), we chose the latter. DeepL pro is now available in Korea as well and can be translated collectively in programming units using API.

The most important thing in machine translation is to provide context. Without providing the characters and the context of any scene, it's hard to guarantee that DeepL will get better results than the current translation.

It is good news for us that DeepL was developed in Germany. However, it is unclear how well DeepL will understand Korean. Overall, Korean support is slower than Japanese and Chinese, and I think this proves that there are fewer uses.

"ny idea where to find the drop down menu items for the settings and are there any graphics with text because I still see things not being translated?"

It's hard to know what you are mentioning, if you tell me what's the UI is and the translations for it, I'll manually update it ASAP.

Our friend here is talking about 2 things :

- In the options, when you need to set parameters, some come from a multiple choice list. Just in case you're not familiar with the terms, a button that you click and reveals a list thet unfolds is called a "drop down list". The name comes from the fact that usually, the least deploys towards the bottom of the screen, as if it were pulled down by gravity. The question is, where can they input the translation for those ?

From what I understand of your answer, they can just drop it here and you'll manually update :)

- The other question is, are some texts part of textures or graphic elements of the game ? Is every text in the game an actual text that exists in the text database and can be translated, or are some texts directly part of the visuals and thus cannot be translated at all ? Our friends here says he has noticed some elements that appear to still be in Korean, and wonders if they have been forgotten / not translated yet, or if they simply cannot be translated that way.

All improvements I submitted were actually mostly done by DeepL, only where the sentence made no sense at all the English translation was used. Most sentences done by ChatGPT make no sense at all and for the small part I've seen, context was 100% absent, just check my changes for refrence.

They are not in Korean but in English, but yes to everything else Uriel said

(First of all, Thank you Uriel)

* The question is, where can they input the translation for those ?:
You can also translate them in the translation editing tool. In case you can't find them, them please let me know its English translation and German translation. I'll manually update them.

* are some texts part of textures or graphic elements of the game:
Some texts like "NOW LOADING" is hard coded. So you can't find them in the dictionary file or translation editing tool. Some texts are part of image. We tried to manage those image files separately along the language setting but decided to not to do it. There are many reasons, but maintaining the global one build was key.

Oh, I found out what was the problem here, for the game to change drop down menu/combo box items, I just had to restart the game, at least for the settings.

Ok, so there is not even an option implemented to overwrite those elements without modding the entire game to translate "Victory Conditions" and "Defeat Conditions" on battle start, real bummer.

No, hard coded texts are very few. Almost every text you encounter in the game can be translated. "Victory Conditions" and "Defeat Conditions"? They are on the dictionary file. In other words, they can be localized.

If there are any words you think have to be localized, please let me know. :D
