Am i under leveled or under geared? Need help fighting clown mobs
I'm at Sion's character event where the crew went to seafood market. So i've been playing prior missions rather smoothly with a little exception, but this mission seems to have a huge difficulty spike. My characters can't kill the clowns fast enough before they kill me in 2-3 hits except Albus / Alisa.

I don't know if i'm supposed to grind for level or gear before starting this mission again, or i made a mistake on building their masteries. Is there a specific way to bypass their blocks? Half of them have 100+ block and the other have final resistance!

You could include your character sheets as inset images to show off levels, gear, and mastery boards.

Irene has a basic skill that entirely negates blocking. Albus and Alisa's single target ultimates bypass block, as well. There's a universally available 3 point Attack slot mastery that halves a target's block chance. A lot of mastery sets help reduce a target's block chance or increase your damage to the point that blocking doesn't help.

You're probably not underleveled or undergeared. Just not using the proper strategy to fight the clowns.

I like to say this a lot, but Dandylion develops content in a way that it challenges specific strategies and requires you to adapt new ones when new content comes out a few months later.

As you have noticed, the biggest problem you'll have with clowns is their block.

There are tons of ways to bybass block. Adjust your builds accordingly:

* Most of the attacker characters have ways to deal with Block. Albus for instance has Retaliation which can autocrit past block. He also has other masteries which reduce block%. Ray as Grenadier has tons of ways to reduce to block, and has Spirit mastery which also reduces block. Giselle as Sniper ditto. Irene's Fire Masteries can also lower block, and her Cartwheel attack completely ignores block.

* Leton is the MVP he can just freeze them and their block is useless. Use the mastery that applies Chill to his punch, up it to 100%, then use Frozen Bolt and then put Counter and Forestallment on him. Any Clown that tries to approach or attack him is insta-frozen. Giselle Pets can do this too. If you do nothing else just let Leton solo it.

* Giselle's traps also completely bypass block. Can also freeze them with Powerful Trap.

* Shion can just flat out deal enough base damage to not care about block using Flash. Bianca can do so to an extent but most of her damage comes from crit so it's hard against Clowns.

* Lastly Breakthrough halves all block chance and can be applied to everyone. In concert with the other block reducers mentioned you can lower a White Clown's block% to around 20% or less. If I recall correctly when I have Giselle as Sniper white clown only has like 18% block chance against her (not sure I haven't used Giselle as Sniper in a long time)

* For the black clowns you can also one shot them you don't need to worry about Final Resistance. Although you might indeed be underleveled or undergeared one-shotting them on CC isn't that simple but can be done once you have endgame builds. Still freezing them with Leton or just plain destroying them with Albus is easier.

Albus, Irene, Alisa, and Sion could manage to take them, but we're eventually outnumbered to death. I think i have it on some of my character, not sure though, but it seems Final Resistance ignores that.

Anyway, here's my characters

Thanks! I haven't properly bult Leton yet, i'll try again after levelling him a bit more. I don't have Draki as well, can i use freezing drone for this?

Note taken! My issue with black clowns is that i can't one shot them, but strong enough to put them to 20%-30% hp on crit. Seems like freezing is the way to go, i'm gonna try that to see how it works.

You should really get some "Draki's Perfect Scale" from the Draki's Nest.

Also, don't hesitate to craft more equipment for your team instead of just increasing the level of your already owned equipment. In fact, increasing the level of equipment is close to useless because it cost an arm and a leg and only increase the main stat.

The Firefighter drone don't freeze, and the Reinforced mastery only drop on the 50V Destron Violent Case
Mochan Jul 20, 2021 @ 7:53am
Firefighter drones can freeze, but this is not very effective against Clowns because freezing requires them to crit, and the clowns have high block which cancels out crits.

Otherwise, Firefighter Drones are very effective at freezing anything that isn't a machine or has absurd levels of block.

As noted Firefighting Drone is not a good choice against the clowns due to their high block. They will work on Black Clowns likely because you can probably crit them twice and freeze them before Final Resistance kicks in, but it's not ideal, and it won't work on white clowns at all.

Freezing is definitely the easy way to do it. It's not hard with Leton, even if you haven't leveled him enough I am assuming you are just on Normal difficulty, just slap on Frozen Touch mastery then the Frost Bolt Mastery Set, then put on Counterattack and go to town on everything. Make him as tanky as you can after those three components are in place and he will disable all the clowns all by himself. Just make him run into the biggest crowd of clowns and he'll take care of the rest.

You don't need a Draki to do freezing builds. An Ice Tima is better actually and easy to procure. The best one is the Frog Princess from the violent crime because she can do it from range with her super ice tongue.

+1 for the Frost Tima.

But, for me the Frog Princess is my arch-nemesis ^^ Gisele keeps dying before she's able to tame her... And, even with an anti-icecube build, she die of the very high damage from the Tongue skill.

Can we eventually craft red equipment? I only rely on boss drops thus far, and my parts went for upgrading them :/

Freezing is the way then. I'm on hard difficulty by the way, i hope this method would work the same!

Thank you very much for your input guys, it's very helpful!

The frogs are some of the hardest beats to tame. They are too fragile so they tend to die to accidents. =_= And if you pull your punches on them they can kill you in an instant.

You really have to baby them while taming them, which is a pain. I had to come up with some advanced taming strategies just to capture them and fish for the perfect Frog Princess with the perfect mastery combinations. I think I caught six of them trying to get the one I wanted because I kept getting Greedy beast over and over. Let us not talk about frog hunting it brings bad memories. =_=

Yeah it'l be fine, if you have gone through the game on Hard all this time you'll be fine. Leton is pretty OP when it comes to tanking and crowd control, trust me he will clear all the clones all by himself without any trouble with that build. He won't even break a sweat.

Black clowns have a mastery called "Steel armor". It reduces critical damage from enemies by 100. This is mostly why you will do a critical hit but instead of killing them it will do like 70-80% of their HP instead, once they go below 33% HP they will trigger final resistance and always block every single attack even when frozen and such. It is important that you see your damage calculation before going through the attack. Sion (Both classes), Irene (Battle mage), Bianca (Black mage), Anne (Witch) can become strong enough that they will always kill most targets if they do critical hits. Avoid attacking too much with ray and heixing, if not built well they will be the first ones to make the clowns go to the 30% HP zone, ray especially since her critical damage is garbage so steel armor affects her even more. Giselle as well, she can usually only kill if she gets the 100% still stance bonus on her basic attack, if not then she might put them on 30% HP zone as well.
