Impossible To Find Good Equipment
I keep wanting to upgrade my gear to new stuff at a higher level for higher base attack or armor. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to find anything new that has decent stats. And for now at least, the crafting options seem to be mediocre, for fairly high investment cost. Right now I only craft to raise crafting levels in the hopes that something better becomes craftable.

Only endgame and legendary equipment is worth upgrading.

Gear is very dependent on what you need at any given time. One character might need more speed and another needs more block. From lvl40 onwards you will get crafting options that cover almost all stats. Affixes are of course random which can be quite annoying but alas. The really unique things that are worth looking out for are indeed lategame and legendary items. Some of them have some extremly powerful passive effect.

However as a whole equipment plays only a secondary role after the masteries. So even with sh*tty gear you can still beat all content on the hardest difficulties as long as you have a decent mastery setup on your characters.

I meant replacing my old gear with new gear, not the "upgrade" crafting option. I thought that was made clear when I said "to new stuff at a higher level".

Ok, thanks. Guess I'll just focus on leveling up. And yes, I know that gear only plays a partial role in stats, but I want lots of speed move distance and block for quality of life and playstyle concerns, and unfortunately there is only so much you can get from masteries. I'm just noting that it's extremely frustrating at my level (30) and below.

i didn't find good gear until the very end of the game or you have to farm. I will say even though i didn't realize until a couple hundred hours in, but the crafting system is pretty in depth, and can give you pretty decent gear if you have find the crafting materials.

Unless you're making high block or dodge character builds, perfect gear isn't that important. Just craft the best gear you can find it'll have the best armor or attack values you need.

Masteries are where the power in this game lies.

I already know that, as I said. I'm just lamenting the accessibility to gear.

Yeah, the other guy said around 40 the options improve. So I'll hope that I can speed up my leveling as much as possible to hopefully get there soon.

I think a possible fix might be to allow you to spend a small amount of money as a fee to cause a vendor to change out their stock to new gear. Maybe adding more variety of gear for lower level crafting too. I dunno.

Even early game has a few legendaries drops that can last for over 10 to 20 levels of leveling. I mean, I'm still using a lv 35 legendary on one of my characters. If you want to optimize equipment, you can consider going back and farming a few earlier missions with certain bosses. Otherwise, the later in the game, the better equipment will become accessible. I personally have also used lv 5 shoes for like 20 levels myself because of the high block/dodge values while leveling.

I think the gear is one of the weakest parts of (this generally strong) game - but the good news is that you don't have to engage with it.

I'm playing endgame levels on C/C and for most of the game my equipment was "Whatever I found in boxes and drops" and now it's "Whatever I found in boxes and drops and crafting". I've not played a level to get drops and the ones I craft I make 2 or 3 copies of and live with the best affix I get even if it kinda sucks. I've upgraded one piece of equipment for an achievement and everything else is +0. I'm aware we're underequipped for the part of the game we're doing, but as a rule it doesn't matter.

The masteries are a much bigger deal than the stuff.

Yup, mastery sets are key. Gear is there to add needed stats or give perks or add to the mastery bonuses. That said, weapon +atk/esp damage, + to hit, + to crit, are always good to have. Early on I balanced my skills with weapons that aided the type of damage that each char relied upon most, and only swapped it out once I found an obviously better option. Until 40/45+ gear I found it wasn't worth upgrading gear (excepting clearly superior 35 legendary gear).

Shops refresh every hour. You should get enough gold to buy needed items to beat main game. Atleast that was what i did. Shop itmes, few boss items and very rare normal drops with perfect stats. I didnt bother myself with item crafting. Waste of time at lower levels.
Later you start getting endgame boss drops what are somethign worth.

Games loot system is typical Diablo style . There are thousands games with similar loot style.
