Chests in mission = stupid situations
Hello,

Having to loot chest in mission make for some really stupid situations, like not killing the last enemy to search the map.

So, did i miss something, and the chest are auto-loot after a mission (but then why should i loot them) ?

If it's a (very stupid IMO) feature, is it "safe" not to loot them, or am i missing important items ?

Thanks

The chest gives you an item that you can loot in the middle of a mission, and you could equip the item in the middle of the mission if that character can and you want to. You won't get the items from the chest if you don't loot them, but you don't need to loot all of the chests either. The items in boxes are random. You can replay any mission, so almost nothing is missable. The only thing you currently cannot repeat are quests.

Also, having Metrodium as a jurisdiction zone, lets u see the chests on map, so u dont hav e to look for them ^^

As a new player I agree with the criticism about chests. I too find it kinda stupid (if not even boring) to ignore the last enemy to scout the map for chests because I don`t want to miss out on stuff.
Knowing where the chests are in advance is not a solution because sometimes it takes time to get to chests. For example I waited three turns before killing the last enemy after I had the chance just because it took one character so long to get to and open the last chest on the map.

I would strongly suggest to make chests auto-loot after missions. To open them during missions gives you the possibility to equip new stuff or refill used potions and that should be incentive enough.

In later missions enemies get exceedingly dangerous so looting chests becomes something that actually needs to be considered and weighed up compared to just roaming around and kiting one guy to loot chests.

For the most part chests aren't all that important to loot since the stuff they give is mediocre at best and enemy drops can typically match or exceed loot. This is until you start finding around level 35+ equipment at which point it's worthwhile to loot them since they're a nice source of magenta black iron parts when they're salvaged (which are relatively expensive/difficult to get and are used a lot for high level crafting).

I know myself so what I read is:
Later it will become (a lot) harder to kite one last enemy to loot all chests... ;)

If chests aren`t all that important and the loot they give isn`t all that great I don`t see a problem with auto-looting them after the mission.

Yep, auto-loot at the end, or remove them, or make them a reward from defeating an enemy, etc.

In its current interation, it's really meh.

Might be a good idea to add auto-loot as Jurisdiction bonus.

Totally agree. I've been looting them and wondering whether I had to. They should be auto-loot if you finish the mission. Moving characters around to loot chests mid-battle because sometimes they contain a gear part is kinda meh.

I don't know... if you make them auto-loot after the missions end there is no point in going after them and so no point in putting them in the mission at all...

The point is if you loot them while in mission, you may get items or consumables you want to use immediatly. It's "enough" in my opinion. If you don't loot them, then wait until the end of the mission to autoloot. The "cost" would be to be unable to use item until next mission.

That would be stupid, becouse u cant freely rearrange items during missions...but the autoloot option could be a part of some gear set or part of it, or even a seperate mastery, which would be interresting.

I'm more for letting auto-loot tie in with a jurisdiction bonus, or have an option to just switch it off and on for people who can't be bothered opening chests, mostly since if you have auto loot ALWAYS on then you bag will fill up very very quickly with loot, combined with the stuff you loot from enemies, and not everyone want's to have to stop every 3-4 missions to sell junk or break down gear for crafting mats that stop being useful past certain levels which would just add more junk to people storage in late game.

Personally, I feel there's no need for auto loot, you would only loot chest in your level range and once you start crafting your own gear, you never really open chest anymore since you can craft things that are always better then what you loot in chest. I feel the chest are just there for people who don't craft/buy gear/don't have funds, so something gotta give if you want to get gear, and the risk of looting chest during combat is the price you pay.

chests with health pickups kind of make sense during missions, as you can potentially replenish uses, but the chance of getting better gear for exactly the character opening a chest is so low it's really a non-issue. personally, I'd rather have all chests replaced with some mission limited bonuses (or even turn limited) and get a fixed amount of random gear after completion (based on how many chests there previously were).

these bonuses could include things like:
  • increased healing received & done - give it either to your frontliners or your healer. incoming healing boost would be higher than outgoing ofc, for example incoming healing increased by 150%, outgoing healing increased by 50%. so a frontliner taking the boost can get healed a lot, but only them, while a healer taking the boost would benefit everyone, but less so.
  • attribute increases (dodge/block/hit or crit chance). give it to your strongest chars to make them stronger, or help your weaker chars be a bit more durable.
  • speed, vision & movement increases. make someone a temporary scout!
  • increased sp/vigour regen. get more overcharges or simply avoid having to constantly refresh vigour

and so on. make them randomized on the map but previewable. so if I find a booster I can decide which character would best benefit from this type of boost right now.
