1-20 enemies : normal
21-30 enemis : hard
31-40 enemies : very hard
41-50 enemies : super hard
51-70 enemies + 10 gangsta toad : extremely hard
Thats why every single mission beside the very first one is hard or higher lol
And because you initally asked about rating
90 minute game with 4 dead and 5 serious injury : Perfect
10 second mission against roberto : Good
I know it affects nothing to the gameplay but its some of the rough edges that needs to be adjusted tbh, for more immersion
How do I find out what my "team level" is?
Does my PC need extra RAM to play a mission with that many enemies? I imagine turns must take a very very long time too.
1. Well the game intends for your members to be on the same level, thats why they give a lot of +EXP masteries to make them all even
2. Im using GTX 1060 6GB with 16 GB RAM and when im playing a huge map with smokes everywhere i get a stable 90 fps, but that stable 90FPS is the same on almost every map and every video setting. So i kinda suspect this game is not quite optimized
And yeah the first time i play huge missions without knowing the map layout and enemy placements it took 90 minutes. And if i screw up or caught off-guard i may just restart it
btw you should play on hard+ if you havent because hard is the normal in this game and some content are locked below hard+
We set the mission's difficulty by the team level. It based on the average level of the team that we assume all member same level. It's a not relative difficulty rank but fixed difficulty rank. We think that it helps the supposition of the mission difficulty.
So the more recommended level is higher, the more the mission is harder. At the same point, if recommended level is same, the more difficulty is harder, he more the mission is harder.
And in game option, you can use more option to reduce the game delay such as "Quickly display ally actions"/"Quickly display non-ally actions" and etc.
And your PC won't slow down much if it's the recommended specification. The frame can be dropped if it's close to the minimum specification.
Does more difficulty simply mean more enemies, or are other stuff involved as well? Do you use a formula?
There is no formula because it is the level of difficulty that we decided by playing it ourselves. But when we set that criterion, we set even the most difficult missions on the basis that it should be easier if the team level is a certain level higher than the recommended level.
If this mission's difficulty rank is confusing, we'll do our best to look for a better way to express it.
21-30 enemies = hard
There is no interpretation. There is no "depends on what type of enemies".
And the difficulity rating doesnt scale real-time with your average squad level because its relative to the mission's level
So again im answering OP's question about how the game decided the difficulity rating from my observation
Also I don't quite understand the initial question. The devs gave the mission a recommended level, then looked at the mission and decided to slap a rating on it based on how difficult it would be to beat the mission at said level. I would hope that there were a multitude of factors that went into that rating but who knows.
In the end all this is meaningless anyway as most of the missions are labled hard or above. So I wouldn't really pay any attention to it (and I personally didn't). Just start the mission and experience it yourself. Most of the difficulty of a mission comes from very specific things anyway that can't be reflected in a simple rating.
