This post isn’t specific to Uno, but it’s a solution to the same issue. Essentially, using ProtonTricks in desktop mode to install Ubisoft Connect into the game’s compat folder.
If you try it and get it to work, please let us know!
I did find this more recent thread specifically about Uno;
https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/10jp0zf/need_help_in_getting_ubisoft_connect_to_detect/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
There’s a person there who said they figured it out and would make a video guide to get it working, but they haven’t shared it yet.
I have not tried online yet but at least it launches again.
You’re welcome!
Ya, looking at ProtonDB, it seems like it did break sometime recently and everyone is also saying multiplayer is busted right now. The playable rating is probably from before and will be updated at some point.
For anyone wanting to get the game to at least launch, here are the steps I used from the link I shared:
In Game Mode:
Install Uno
Launch it (default Proton is fine)
Let it error and close it (this builds the compat folder)
Switch to Desktop Mode:
Download the Ubisoft Connect exe from the website
Install ProtonTricks from Discover
Run ProtonTricks (from the app launcher, not Discover)
Select Uno from the list, continue
Select the default Wine prefix, continue
Run explorer
In the explorer window, navigate to the Downloads folder (it should be in Z. if you can’t find it, you might need to give additional permissions to ProtonTricks with Flatseal. There’s also an outdated copy that comes with the game in the install location at Steam\common\Uno\Support\redist)
Run UbisoftConnect.exe and install
Once done, either run it from the installer or launch from the shortcut located in explorer at C:\users\steamdeck\Desktop
Log into Ubisoft Connect
(if it gets stuck “looking for patches”, give it some time and then close it and reopen)
Switch back to Game Mode and the game should launch now after Ubisoft Connect logs in.
Offline with bots seems to work, but multiplayer doesn’t, even tho you can see yourself logged into your account just fine. It just always says the match you’re trying to join is full.
Hopefully they fix it soon!
I've taken note of your reports regarding Issues when playing UNO on Steam Deck, and I'm sorry to hear that it impacts your experience !
The thread has been moved to the Player Support section of the forum, to bring it the best possible visibility.
At this stage, we are unable to guarantee full compatibility between Ubisoft games and services and Steam Deck / SteamOS.
Certain games could work; however, we are unable to assist in case of compatibility issues.
You can also reach out to the Steam Deck discussions for support.
If you have questions, or if there's anything else we can help you with, don't hesitate to let us know !

Thanks for responding! At this point, Uno is ~SO CLOSE~ to working perfectly on the Steam Deck! The last remaining issue only affects online multiplayer and appears to be server-side. The game always says that a match is unavailable or full when trying to join from a Linux client.
Since Ubisoft isn’t officially supporting the Steam Deck, do you think the servers have a chance of ever being updated to allow us to join a match? There isn’t much we can do on our side to work around it.
Thanks!
